The phone isn... moreI have the Xperia 1 the Xperia 1iii is the same it has 4k screen but it only kicks in to 4k mode when a video supports it. You can't even play games in 4k because android doesn't support 4k gaming. The phones native resolution is 2560x1096 for doing everything other than watching supported films. So nobody is going to Xperience 4k in their day to day.

Due to the limitation of OLED itself - the automatic brightness limiter (ABL) would not be able to push 1300 nits full frame. I'd assume it'll be around 600 at 100% coverage (Similar to last time), if the screen has a heat sink or vapour chamber then it'll get up to 800 at 100%.

[deleted post]So you go to Sony forum, where you are obviously going to find Sony fans. You say that the phone is rubbish. One of said fans gets upset and let's you know (actually quite politely) that he is not in agreement. you report him to the admin for personal insults (that I personally haven't detected). My suggestion is to take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror, and decide for yourself if that was really as fun as you thought it was going to be.

Taking into account the price of 12gb ram, sd888, 256/512gb 3.1 ufs. SD card support. The screen may be a gimmick but it is still technically better than any other phone. Aspect ratio is a personal preference and doesn't really change the price. What makes the price of this phone a joke that doesn't apply to similar priced flagships?

Show me another one which is capable of doing that. You can adjust it to be bit saturated and warm and vibrant like SAMSUNG or iPhone or make it bit cool and lower the saturation to make it dull like Oneplus and Vivo.

Your so called "Stupid 21:9" is the aspect ratio which you have been watching movies in since you were a kid. Now it suddenly became stupid. While the other non standard aspect ratios like 18:9, 19:9, 20:9 are fine. If you hate 21:9 then I hope you never watch another movie in your life. But if you watch and enjoy movies there is no point in hating 21:9 as you enjoy it.

Just got mine, straight from JD.com in Gray colorway.
First Impressions: matte finish FTW! Not only the glass on the back is matte, but also the power button and the whole aluminium frame. 120Hz not adaptive, it's either on or off. The camera bump is noticeable bigger, better put a case on the back. Very noticeable heat on heavy loads and especially when using the camera, can be felt through the thicc xperia case. Even better camera app than mark2.
Some minor problems though, but mostly because of particular location I am in (mainland China). These problems all come from bad localization.The fingerprint sensor is quick and works well for unlocking the phone, but does not support Alipay. NFC does not work with Alipay either, although both fingerprint and NFC works with WeChat.
All in all, very aesthetically pleasing phone, with good

Only $100 more than its expensive-for-what-it-was predecessor with dual periscope, 888, adding 120Hz to 4K, 4 more gigs of RAM, and 40% louder speakers/DAC is a pretty good upgrade in my book.
