True, there is no comparison between the quality of Sony and Iphone. At the beginning, Apple did some very good phones but fell pray to that very toxic mentality of producing more phones with cheaper materials and that is somehow called herd mentality. Sony at least maintained their policy, limited number of phones, battery care without supercharge speeds like 0 to 100% in 30 seconds, and the best of all..no damn notches or holes in the display for the selfie camera. And of course, no non sense idiotic numbers of megapixels for the main camera, just the cold real numbers. Probably I am subjective, being a Sony fan but for these reasons I may make an effort to buy one Xperia 1 mark 3. I have almost all Xperia phones in my collection, except Xperia 1 mark 1 and 2 and never had any complaints except maybe the quality of the photos on XZ 2 and XZ 3 but is not a huge issue for me.
I may wait for the black Friday though...

The Xperia 1 III 256 GB will be (based on leaks) $1299 so it will still be cheaper than an equivalent iPhone.

At least, unlike Apple, they have a 4K display at 120Hz, headphone jack with great audio software, expanded memory, and great battery care. My bother and mom's iPhones are having lightning port problems and my wife had the same issue before she switched to Huawei. Why else are there so many 'certified' iPhone repair technicians? They need repair the most out of all the other brands.

Is it just an impression of mine or Sony has now the most expensive phones, rising over Apple?
I am a huge fan of Sony products and use them for many years but lately all of them seem to become more expensive, not just phones but tv's and the rest.

Anonymous, 25 May 2021Oled and AMOLED are not the same. The AMOLED have an extra ... moreTechnically, all OLEDs used right now are Active Matrix OLEDs or AMOLEDs. Both LG and Samsung use some form of AMOLED in their displays. The difference comes down to different manufacturing processes. The way Samsung does it doesn not allow them to scale up the display size in a cost efficient way, hence we sont see much OLED TVs from Samsung. LG's manufacturing process basically gives them monopoly on the OLED manufacturing for TVs as it is much more efficient to manufacture using their process.
As to why LG doesn't use the term AMOLED? Its because the way Samsung has marketed their own displays. Samsung's use of the term AMOLED in their display tech has resulted in people associating the term with Samsung in general. That's why LG doesn't use it to market their own displays even though technically they are AMOLEDs

Samsung's own extra touches and improvements to AMOLED are found in the form of Super AMOLED, which was revolutionized further to Super AMOLED Plus, and now arriving in today's Dynamic AMOLED for variable refresh rates.
