With LG quitting the phone business I guess I have to shift to Sony... they are among the very few makers that actually have a flagship phone with most recent soc's and 3.5 jack and micro sd card. But they are weirdly expensive :(

Why do people who do not like a particular brand decision feel compelled to comment on why they do not like the phone in question? DO you feel that your negative comments are going to sway people away from buying what they want? Let's say you do convince someone to buy something else, what have you accomplished other than to possibly make another company give up on making great smart phones? Does less competition help anyone at all? I do my research like everyone else here on the phone's I may be interested in. When a phone doesn't meet my needs I do not make negative comments about it! Maybe that phone is perfect for someone else! Is it anyone's job to try and stop people from buying something? I can understand if there's a danger in buying the product, but if it's just a matter of taste then why not go to a food forum and tell someone why Limburger Cheese is the best and Mozzarella is the worst? I hate Limburger Cheese because it smells and tastes like feet! But some people love it. Good for them! So for those of you who think Sony is all wrong here why not just GO AWAY and leave those of us who like this phone ALONE! We don't need your advice. We know what we are doing just the same as you supposedly do!

I am not a Sony hater, I am just saying facts here. But I am sure Sony is on the good way(except the front facing camera, which will be probably a garbage again).

It is not just the sensor, but how good is the software is. Everybody knows for example that Samsung makes better camera phones than other competitors, and Apple makes the best phones when it comes to Audio. These are facts, I follow some big Tech guys so I know what I am saying.

Weren't you the same SAMSUNG Guys who literally complained and made a huge deal of added Noise Grain due to over sharpening of the Image just few years back when XZ Premium launched. You guys went on complaining how when cropped in the XZ Premium image had higher noise level than its competition while retaining sharpness. But now when SAMSUNG does that with their S21 Ultra suddenly you guys have a mind change and now would like more noise grain over smoother image just to get the over processed sharpness. Good.
First you guys decide on what you want and when you make a statement try sticking with it no matter what.
Like us so called SONY fanboys always stand by the statement we make and if SONY comes short on delivering it we ourselves roast it like hell unlike you guys who simply switch their statement for their convenience.

Anonymous, 20 Apr 2021Not even sure if the 888 can handle 4K@120.Yes the snapdragon 888 can not handle 4k - 3840x2160 in 120hz. But the xperia 1 iii is 3840x1644, basically a taller qhd screen - so it should be able to do that at 120hz. Especially since the 888 can do 2560x1440 at 144hz

In ideal conditions, it is guaranteed that every smartphone can output a nice picture even in midrange. It now all comes down to processing, color and RAW support.
But let's see how terribly wrong you are, right in the example you made between the 5 months old S21 Ultra and a 1 year old Xperia 1 II.

Try zooming in the sewed Spongebob or the donkey. While Xperia recreate natural color and a good feel for the clothing, Samsung just turn the whole picture into a horror scene with fake details, overprocessed colors and shadows, making the photo less appealing unless you're a fan of late night horror story.
And imagine, if this perfect scenario already made a win for Xperia, then how about harder ones with more challenging environments. Your example just ironically proved that Xperia is superior.

The same 8mp garbage selfie sensor in 2021, even the regular iPhone 11 shoots 4K 60fps on the selfie and it came out 2 years ago and it's using a Sony sensor go figure.
