A good comeback from sony. Great happy to see the specifications. Big memory 512gb internal memory + external memory expansion. 3.5mm audio jack. Hope you keep proper price and this will be my next phone. Sony, you will beat all the crap phonea in the market now.

    Disappointed I am a big Sony mobile having owned the previous Sony Xperia I back in day it was launched. Compared with the competition to Samsung galaxy S21 ultra and Xiaomi mi Pro 11 Ultra, the Sony Xperia 1 III has lost the competition in every way, even the camera shoots lower megapilix compared with 108 mega pilix on SG S21 ultra. Even the battery Sony Xperia I to Sony Xperia III is only 500 mha different, there no huge upgrade between
    Sony Xperia I to Sony Xperia III, I can say stands out, even the display Sony Xperia III fails to qualify for 8k display screen, I not lie the phone has pilix per inch on screen but still brightness in terms of nits falls short competition 1700. Also refresh rate reaches 120 mhz, while Xiaomi mi Pro 11 Ultra reaches 480 mhz, dispointed. I way put off now from the Sony phones, because lack of huge improvement, also there camera on every phone made failed to receive high ratings on DOXMARK score for a manufacturer makes cameras they should hammered Samsung, huawei P40 Pro ultra, and Xiaomi mi Pro 11 Ultra.

Only people seeing and touching the 2 phones can tell you that. Paper specs are not the full story. And even on paper, x3 pro has the edge over xiaomi mi 11 ultra. Even when specs speak.

        I am gonna clarify few doubts that lot many guys going through this specific discussion thread are having.

        First about 4K@120Hz. Big Question HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?? SD 888 does not support 4K@120Hz and that is a Fact. So WAS SONY LYING?? Was SONY Lying about 4K@120Hz which they BOLDLY Claimed during their Presentation. NO SONY WERE NOT LYING. XPERIA 1 III does indeed have 4K@120Hz then how is that possible as SD 888 doesn't support it. I went through explaining this Yesterday but through fast pacing discussion not many noticed it. I am Pasting what I Explained Yesterday below.

        I would like to make few things clear. First XPERIA 1 III will have True 4K@120Hz. XPERIA 1 III packs not one Processing unit. It has Three Processing Units. First is SD 888 for General Processing and bonding the ties with the other two processors. Second is SONY X1 for Mobile for 4K@120Hz and SONY's accurate image processing which sadly SD 888 is incapable of doing on its own. Third BIONZ-X for Image Processing which again SD 888 is not able to perform on SONY's level. This not the first time that SONY has done this. XZ Premium did have BRAVIA X1 Physical processor in it.

        SD 888 is not processing the display output for XPERIA 1 III. It is incapable of 4K@120Hz.Seriously after SONY clearly stating it as 4K@120Hz in their Presentation and on their Website. People here are still discussing it to be 2K@120Hz(QHD+@120Hz)

        Now the next big Question WHY IS IT PRICED SO HIGH?? As I explained above XPERIA 1 III is Literally packing more Hardware in terms of Processing Power which costs decently. To explain even further the cost of implementing those extra processing units like for example cost of implementing that X1 for Mobile Processing Unit costs decently more than what it would cost to add in additional 4GB or even 8GB of RAM. Next the Quality SONY covers it to even Minute Details. It is not like SONY is cutting down on Quality and yet charging a High Price. That is not the case.

        Next Big Question BATTERY AND FAST CHARGING?? Well Battery 4,500mAh is not as big as what S21 Ultra or other Flagships from competition has to offer but have to agree that it is not far behind. Fast Battery Drain, It all depends on what one is using it and how intensely they are using it. SONY Literally has best battery implementation I can Bet that when the Screen is Off and Phone is left to sit there SONY loses the least battery compared to its competition(That is a fact). Why XPERIA 4K Phones drain Battery Faster than the rest. Again when Display is on there are Two Processors working while the stress is shared between them still some power is lost running them in Parallel. When using Camera it becomes worse as Third Processor kicks in. Because of all this Excessive heat is Produced for which people just think that XPERIA devices run hot and they THROTTLE which is not the case. You can go and test is for your self or check the online Reviewers who do in-depth Review. They complain that the Device gets hot while Gaming but then they also claim that Game runs smooth and no drop in performance which clearly means that it is not Throttling. Reason behind this is simple. The heat being generated is from Multiple Processing Unit and the fact that the SD 888 is actually able to load off Display processing onto X1 means that it is handling less work than what it has to on other devices where it also has to handle Display processing(NOTE: Display Processing is what is handled by TVs and Monitors and not to be confused with Graphic Processing which is handled by GPU and in this case Graphic Processing is still handled by SD 888).

        Now coming to Fast Charging. Yeah SONY has best Fast Charging Implementation. Where the First 70% is Rushed and last 10-20% is Extremely Slow. This helps improve the Longevity of the Battery which sadly no other brand cares much of. People check out Review of slow speed even with Fast Charging and Imagine it to be bad. But they don't realize that the First 70% of the Charging happens at a similar speed to what other brands are capable of but after that it slows down so that it doesn't over charge the Battery which cause it to degrade over time. The Charging also adapts to our Routine like if we Charge it over night where we leave it plugged in for 6Hrs straight after few Days it will literally take 6Hrs to get to 100% and if you unplug it in 5Hrs it will only have 95% charge. Even then the Firs 70% will charge Instantaneously leaving the final 20% which charges at extremely slow rate.

        There is a lot more to cover in detail but hope this answers few Questions.

            it is a masterpeace like all phones before at this line. but it isn't advertised enough and isn't sold in most global markets...

But with 4K and 8K, I'm more referring to actual recording since I believe phones will eventually fully overtake the best from the professional market.

That said I would still rather use 4k on the telephoto lens than 8k zoomed in on the main camera. Can't argue with the future proofing though

To be fare at least Sony compare the zoom to the 24mm and not the 16mm like other companys. But even so, the human eye sees roughly 50mm so 105mm is only really just over 2x zoom. I have always thought cameras just follow the same rules as binoculars for zoom marketing. Otherwise the number before the X is irrelevant

Xperia 1 (the fist one of the series) got upgraded all the way to Android 11 from 9-th one, you can confirm that by going to its GSMArena page. And the phone still recieves updates, that means you'll be getting all the newest security patches. Even more is that you'll be getting new Android versions really quick, only 1-2 months after Google's release. I'm also using a Samsung device and I can't say I'm happy with updates on that at all. I got Android 10 from Samsung only a YEAR after its release and no security patches inbetween.
                          The same story as Xperia 1 is about XZ premium, all the way from 7 to 9 (but sadly they stopped updating it after 3 years or so).
                          So you should expect updates to at least 2 major Android versions and quite a few security patches after.

                                Why can't they just offer a 8gb of ram, 128gb of Rom model for $950. Nobody will complain because 8gb is plenty fast, and 128 is more than most people use. Plus when you need more storage that's the whole point of having the expandable storage. If they did that , it would put it in the same price range as the OnePlus 9 pro, and people will notice the advantages it has over the 9 pro with the 4k 120hz, more consistent and versatile camera experience, better updates, better speakers and uninterrupted display. That way their sales would triple in a year I'm pretty sure.

                                  I love Sony, but they seem to always hold back. It never peaks.
                                  - World's first 4k@120Hz and yet it's not adaptable despite having its own processor.
                                  - Known for masterclass photography and yet not using its latest hardware despite also having its own processor (and I know reusing the same hardware with peak software calibration is better than new hardware with beta software. But it's expected of the company to squeeze the best configuration and calibration on their hardware. Plus, it can be made better through updates).
                                  - World's first variable telephoto tech since Lumix, but didn't incremented its zoom range and focal length by applying the variable lens to the main sensor e.i. 24mm-50mm main, 85mm-135mm telephoto.

                                  What we've learned from consumers and manufacturers is that, size and mass is forgivable as long as the specs is justifiable. Sony could've given 1iii peak specs since it has the Xperia 5 line-up that's conservative on specs and compact. I mean, it already made a very thick phone in Xperia Pro.

                                      Despite all of the great features from Sony, people still has no interest, bashing and comparing it to other brands

                                      Pretty sure Sony would quit in 2-3 years, they said they dont want to advertise, "only professionals" understand our product
                                      Xperia 1 V is probably the last and im definitely gonna buy it. 4K@360Hz is my expectation that gonna happen for gaming
                                      Considering how fast they increased motion blur from 30-120hz in 1 year and finally adapt BFI 60hz in just a year along with many new features and some world's first
                                      Well i guess they spent big R&D and they gonna give up on smartphone division after mark V
