Sony does not have a repair center or even a distribution network for parts in the US. So if your phone needs parts, like my $1,800 Pro I, then you are out of luck. I've been trying to fix it for 5 months now. Assurion can't even fix it, they said ebay is the only place to get parts for it and they are not allowed to shop there. The one phone number Sony has for third party to fix your phone, no one answers. Sometimes you can wait on the line for an hour and then it just hangs up. It's basically a fake company. Owning this phone has been the biggest waste of money. I've never seen this little support from a global company before.

I've been trying to fix it for 5 months now. Assurion can't even fix it, they said ebay is the only place to get parts for it and they are not allowed to shop there. The one phone number Sony has for third party to fix your phone, no one answers. Sometimes you can wait on the line for an hour and then it just hangs up. It's basically a fake company. Owning this phone has been the biggest waste of money. I've never seen this little support from a global company before.

I really love this phone and it was awesome to get a pair of XM5 headphones with it included. Even though I already had a pair. I now have a spare.
The ONE complaint I have with this phone. Is that the 5G speed sucks. I have 600M 5G and on my Xiaomi 13 Ultra, even though it's the Chinese model and not all 5G bands are supported in my country. I get the FULL 600M without any issues. In any metropolitan area I get full 5 bar signal strength.
However, on my Sony Xperia 1V. I get 2-3 bars in the middle of the capital city here and I am lucky to even get 150M speeds. Upload speeds are between 10-20M and on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, they are between 60-80M.
I seriously have no idea how the Xperia 1V can have such slow 5G and such bad signal strength. Especially because it supports ALL the bands in my country. It just makes no sense at all but I assume it's due to Sony's aggressive battery saving.
Apart from that, it's a flawless phone in every way. Beautiful, functional, the best battery life of any phone right now, insanely fast and no bloatware at all. Sony Headphones app is awesome and music is crystal clear from Apple Music HiRes Lossless and the XM5 headphones. It's a match made in heaven. Yes the phone is expensive but it is worth every single penny (I got it for free from my job anyway).
If I could complain about anything else, it's just that I wish Sony would provide a better "point and shoot" experience on the camera. The video is flawless and 120FPS HDR 12Bit looks absolutely breathtaking, it destroys my Xiaomi 13 Ultra in video. However, the Xiaomi wins in photo, it's a much more simple and near perfect point-and-shoot experience. I wish I could just take the Sony out of my pocket and shoot portraits as good as the Xioami without having to fiddle with every single setting...

Weekly reminder for not blind people, not arrogant sony praising for anything people(same as apple).
This phone is soooo overpriced. Even SD card speeds are absurd. Check XDA thread called "Internal file speed Vs SD card". Everything is worse on this phone compared to competitors for the same price. Even AlMiGhTy Sd CaRd speeds are super bad. Waste of money.
It overheats more than any other snapdragon gen 2 CPU. Check XDA forum, especially thread "Does mk5 overheat to an any extent?". This phone is joke for it's price. DON'T SUPPORT OVERPRICED TECH
Sony fan boys even more desperate than apple ones. They are living in forum and trying to convince everyone hOw GoOd tHiS OvErPrIcEd PhOnE Is. Worst OS support of all androids. Even xiaomi promised 4OS updates, 5 years security. And this overpriced tech "The majority of Sony phones come with two upgrades and two years of patches".

I finally received my new Xperia 1V and it's an amazing phone. Battery life is good, cameras are amazing, and overall a really well-built phone.
One thing I don't like is the ambient display. For the Xperia 1 models before this, someone could put a sticker or picture on the ambient display. I can't seem to do that here.
I don't mind the missing notification LED, but I do miss some of the smaller things we had before.

Sure, it's bad that they didn't provide an option of having a charger or not like they did in hometown Japan with every Xperia until Pro-I and still kinda petty about it, but even then, it depends on the people when I have quite plenty charger in my house (3 to be exact). I had an XZ1 for several years and switched to a pixel 4 cause of the whole 3g nuke or whatever it was.
Honestly, this phone is overpriced, definitely not the best price-to-performance, and Sony's cameras are generally pretty average (my pixel definitely shoots better than my XZ1). They could do way better with OS and security updates too.
But, and I say this as a person that generally only cares about functionality (the functions I use it for), I still think I'll buy a Sony phone over a Samsung or Pixel, finances allowing.
- I really love that they have the headphone jack cause I just never got into the wireless thing. It's too much of a hassle for me to have something else to charge.
- I like the front facing speakers, even if they're still phone speakers.
- The multitasking is great. I miss watching a video while being on discord or whatever at the same time.
- I dropped my XZ1 a lot, even right on the screen (once I dropped it right on a rock. It's a bit scratched up but barely noticeable. Thing's a tank, for some reason. I do use a cheap silicone case and that keeps the edges protected
- I still use micro SD cards for music and pictures. It's nice that I can just pop it out and into another phone when I upgrade, or into a computer when I want to backup.
- Shutter button makes taking pictures easier.
- Sony's UI beats my Pixel's, and has more settings I wish the Pixel had.
- Fingerprint sensor underneath the power button is awesome. The XZ1's was not the most reliable (and it's not great if it's taken by cops because they actually legally can force you to unlock it biometrically, unlike forcing you to divulge a password), but it worked well enough.
- I do like the looks of it. Glass back on my pixel for is just a dust magnet for me, and I don't like the looks of the newer Pixel or Samsung phones. I do like the aesthetic of iphones, but not a fan of the camera notch thing. I definitely don't like the hole punch-outs for front cameras.
Anyway that was 20 minutes of time I did not need to use for this. Be civil, y'all, it's just a phone forum.

You have them ALREADY, but what they're doing is that they're making YOU waste with buying the charger and USB cable (and earn money if you buy from them because you will have to to get the advertised charging and transfer speeds because if it isn't theirs, they'll limit those because of "safety") while they claim they're more "green".
Claiming that without the chargers in box you're producing less waste is one of the biggest lies in the phone industry up to today. And if we don't stop them, they'll make sure you'll get one expensive paperweight next time, enjoy your screen, USB-C and internal storage while it lasts.

In fact I'm very happy that they are not included anymore, it was often wasteful. And if I need to get a new one, I can buy the kind that I want. I like having a desktop one on my bedside table on which I can plug the phone and the watch charger, and a more powerful one that can charge both my laptop and phone when I'm on the go.
