Sony has been using Li-Po ever since they started making phones and they are still using it (looking at teardowns for the 1 V). Contrary to popular beliefs, Li-Po, or more correctly Lithium-ion Polymer battery, actually has a longer lifespan and cost more to make than Li-ion. It is also safer and less prone to explode or expand over time because they use polymer electrolytes instead of liquid electrolytes. This is why you see Samsung phones expanding over time and I believe Samsung is the only manufacturer using Li-ion.

I have Xperia 1 (2019) and ordered Xperia 1 V. Considering this is an expensive, high-end product, I don't understand why they switched from Li-Ion to Li-Po battery which is worse in terms of quality and lifespan.

But with xperia, you get much shorter support. And almost 0 features. You waste your money for nothing.

Anonymous, 18 Jul 2023I heard a rumour, sony will quit phone business next year.With their pricing in EU I hope they will. It's insane to pay 1400e~ euros for device with almost 0 OS support and missing features compared to samsung, apple and google.
Only 2 major OS updates, the worst thermals for any phone using snapdragon gen 2 it's pathetic for 1400euros phone

Big fan of Sony Its a kind request to Sony, please start making compact size models with at least 888 fast processor or gen 1 & 2 but should be compact size less than 150mm tall, if samsung can make a compact size with fast processor (S23) why you can't? Anything possible for u, remember my advice key of success..

After what was the worst phone i ever owned (Xperia 5 iv) i decided to give this a chance due to extremely limited choices for flagship tier phones with sd card slots and/or headphone jack.
And i have to say that this is exactly what I wanted.
No longer do you need oven mitts due to the phone overheating like Xperia 5 iv had.
Or no longer do apps simply die as soon as you place them in the background
Only issue I have compared to Xperia 5 IV is the size of the phone.
The narrow 21:9 aspect ratio does help with coping with the 6,5 inch tablet screen, but the Xperia 5 IV's 6,1 was so much nicer to handle.
But overall 5/5 phone and i can see myself hold onto it for the next few years easily.
Let's see if 2025 or 2026 has any worthy successors for this phone.

Sony should launch its phone worldwide. Sony fanbase is so strong across the world. Cant understand why sony back in the race. Sony have a all the resources to rule the smartphone industry. I purchased xperia neo v in 2011 after that sony almost missing

I hope there will be more 6.5 inch smartphones with 13:6 or 19:5:9 aspect ratio and good optimisation aside from just having great or flagship performance.
