I want this phone but it's too big for me
It's 0.5 inches bigger than my current pixel 7
Xperia 1 V has many features like headphone jack, notification leds and many cameras.
It's just too big and also I don't believe it will be easily available in my country.
I can't wait for 5 V news to drop

120fps sensor read out on this, I guess main sensor.
Considering electronic shutter, other phones ate a wonder but I guess they won't go over 30fps. A7RV for 4500euro got 31fps, A9 about 160fps, A1 for 7500euro got 240fps. (Again, I mean not a mechanical but electronic shutter).
1V is for 1400euro, feels cheap enough for me.
Depends on usage tho, who does not care about fast moving object or person being deformed by rolling shutter, other phones are better, otherwise... this 1V is the best.

MakeNokiaGreatAgain, 25 Jun 2023Outdated design? What Sony does is the real design in essen... moreIt's not about chinese phones. They are also overpriced. S23 ultra is chipper than Mi 13 pro and Xperia 1V in my country. At such a price they should remove at least the bottom bezel. Also Sony phones have poor software support.

Anonymous, 17 Jun 2023Already have this on pre-order so will add some thoughts if... moreHey all, just wanted to give everyone here a general update after one day of use:
- transfers are incredibly easy, like no joke it took very little effort to get everything set up and transferred over from my old Samsung A90 5G to this phone by following the guide
- there was some noticeable heat generation that did make the phone hard to handle at times though it quickly cooled down after - wondering if it wasn't throttling and just let the SOC run for a bit, though it hasn't happened again thankfully since (possible optimisation?)
- standby drain is so good (2% within 4hrs of inactivity) so will look to preserve this with battery care up to 90% to ensure better battery integrity + stamina mode
- weird glitch: changing font display settings on android using the device causes certain apps (twitter and discord thus far) to freak out; never had this before with the A90 so assume it's likely due to poor implementation on the Devs side to account for font changes made on android rather than through the APKs themselves (preamble - if you aren't used to the tall screen ratio you may want to consider changing the font settings, just be aware that this is something you'll run into)
- MTP is handled perfectly - compared to the A90 5G which just seemed to lock out every time I connected it to a PC the Xperia never locked out and disconnected; this simple thing is a godsend considering how often ai transfer files from my PC to my phone via a USB cable, so seeing it being done properly here is. Mwah perfect
- Mics clear and audible so no worries there, also for anyone like me who hates getting calls outside of ppl they know: don't worry a bit, the call handling settings in the default Google Phone app are comprehensive and let you only restrict calls to contacts-only
- I would encourage ppl use Creator mode over Standard mode as the default colour gamut personally since whites are more natural than cooler/blue, though again you can change this in the display settings

Lots of claims of Xperia 1V having "very natural" processing. While it's certainly not the most processed, it's definitely not natural. The samples from Mi 13 ultra looks noticeably less sharpened, especially if you look at grass and leaves, even when "Leica vibrant" mode is used.
Now, in "Leica vibrant" mode the colours are overly saturated, much more than Xperia. It's fixed in "Leica authentic" mode, but there's somewhat "vignetting" effect which could bother some. This vignetting seems only noticeable in small previews such as thumbnails. Xiaomi should just abandon this vignetting and make "Leica authentic" the default mode.
Xperia has more natural colours than "Leica vibrant" mode, but fails when comes to natural rendering due to oversharpening. Sony should fix this by reducing sharpening.
What's disappointing is that even Mi 13 ultra, while quite "natural" by today's poor standards, falls apart when compared against Nokia 808. If you fully zoom into leaves and grasses, on 808 you can still tell that you're looking at leaves and grasses, but in today's phones, even on Mi13 ultra's Leica Authentic mode, it's impossible when fully zoomed, it looks like bunch of messy green squares. This is mostly due to oversharpening, but also having only 12mp of chromatic resolution. All those 50mp and 200mp cameras are marketing gimmick. They cannot match the old and gold Nokia 808 in this regard, very disappointed.

Some people cannot afford highest quality Sony flagships, so they have to buy cheap China wannabe flagships. They realize they bought a turd, then out of envy and jealousy they badmouth Sony. Sad people.
