Anonymous, 24 Jun 2023Any news for Xperia 5V????@Mangoon
You are using a site where there is an expectation that you can actually read, not just type out nonsense.

I NOT ONLY STATED THAT NOT FROM SOME OBSCURE SITE BUT GSMARENA.COM ITSELF.

I further went on to cite Amazon.com you could check this yourself, but NO

As there has been no follow-up from the OP I assume they have read and understood the answer

This is a site for INFORMED opinion not alternative fact

So Galaxy S23 Ultra DOES have a CDMA model, Sony Xperia 1 V does NOT have A CDMA model

So at date if Mangoon is correct, you could either contact Amazon.com buy one BYOD and ACTIVATE on Verizon...
Or try to take out a Xperia 1 V contract with Verizon

I tagged myself so my Ist post is linked to this re- emphasis.

@ 06/24/2023 there us no CDMA model Xperia I V

I Just Read , 24 Jun 2023A FYI for all similar questions on specifications page ta... moreBut CDMA is only for 3G. And CDMA is no longer supported by Verizon. They were to stop support 3G in 2021, but ended in December 2022. Will post back with any issues.

AlexPP, 24 Jun 2023Will it have LTE 13 band (for verizon)? It does. 2, 4, 5, 13, 66 all available.

Sony is already dead. Outdated design, weird screen ratio, useless 4k resolution on such a tiny screen, mediocre cameras and overpriced. Also Sony tv are overpriced. RIP Sony.

on specifications page tap by "Technology" this opens up 2G to 5G band information for the phone

Why I think you will be disappointed, First I live in the UK, but that's not it.
You will see that there is NO CDMA so only a GSM phone

A further check shows only 2 model numbers.
This then led me to Amazon.Com which is selling this phone. Amazon specifically state that it won't work on CDMA network and list those networks Verizon is included

Ordered the international 512gb version. Will be using it on Verizon, so will write back with thoughts and any connection issues that I have. Realize that there are missing 5G bands relative to US on Verizon, but I also live in rural Hawaii where I have only found 1 spot of 5G coverage anyway that works over about a hundred and twenty yards along one of the highways.

Cmon Sony, any news on 5 V?

Anonymous, 22 Jun 2023Too long to wait... Why don't they just release both 1... moreThere are at least three reasons I can think of why Sony didn't launch the Xperia 1 V and 5 V together:

1.) Yes, Sony doesn't want overlapping between the 1 and 5 series, as the Xperia 1 series is treated like Samsung's Ultra or Apple's Pro Max series, where the best, cutting-edge, and newest features are always reserved for the Xperia 1 series (Xperia 5 series is treated like Samsung's vanilla S series to put in perspective), then trickle down or be given to the Xperia 5 series later on as a smaller, slightly-mainstream version of the Xperia 1.

2.) The legacy of Sony Xperia's launching habit from the 2010s until now (although the Sony flagship series has been more streamlined since 2019, so there are some differences here), where Sony always split the launching of their Xperia flagship into two halves: the first-half of the year (January–June) and the second half of the year (July–December). The pattern and the devices of the Sony flagships are obvious; you can see them in either the Sony-Ericsson era series (Arc, then Arc S), between them (X Performance to XZ), or the current Xperia (1 IV to 5 IV). The differences, as I mentioned earlier, are that Sony now also treats the Xperia 1 and 5 series as distinctive entities of the series (like the Galaxy S series and Galaxy Z Fold/Flip series), so their successors are unveiled annually, unlike past Xperias, where the respective series are the same entities; hence, there was always a new (vanilla) Xperia flagship every 6 months back then, before 2019 (example: Z2 to Z3, XZs to XZ1).

3.) The second-half of the year is probably the reserved timeline/timeframe where Sony will unveil their Xperia Pro series, and the Xperia Pro series isn't an annually-series Xperia, unlike their annually non-Pro Xperia (1, 5, 10, Ace series), so the Xperia 5 series fills the slot of the unveiling or reveal of the second-half if there's no Xperia Pro to unveil in a certain year (just like 2022 Xperia).

Hopefully this answers your question, my good man.

sieg32, 20 Jun 2023Yeah I hope, because 1 V too big in my opinion I hope that... moreThe Xperia 1 series has always been Sony's top-of-the-line, cutting-edge, semi-professional (full-professional phones are reserved for the Xperia Pro series), and larger flagship series in the Xperia lineup since 2019 and is the continuation of the 4K Xperia Premium series from 2015 to 2018, with amalgamation from the vanilla Xperia (XZ3 perspective), as Sony were streamlining their Xperia since Sony internal restructuring). Their size is always bigger than their vanilla counterpart.

Meanwhile, the Xperia 5 series is Sony's vanilla, safer, slightly-mainstream, and smaller flagship series in the Xperia lineup since 2019 and is the continuation of the vanilla series from 2013 to 2018, with amalgamation from the Xperia Compact series (XZ2/XZ2C perspectives).

About the cameras, we'll see what the Xperia 5 V's camera setup will offer in September. I'm saying this because the differentiation, or gap, between the Xperia 1 and 5 series began to widen. Last year's Xperia 5 IV sacrificed the Xperia 5 III's 70-105 mm variable periscope telephoto lens for a 60 mm fixed telephoto lens (2.5x) (the rest of the lens and setup were the same, thankfully). Hopefully, Sony finds a way to put the periscope telephoto lens in the Xperia 5 series again.

Hopefully, it will, considering the Xperia 5 is mostly just a compact version of the Xperia 1 series and a complementary flagship to the Xperia 1 all these years.

So re this phones pre order price $1399 Xperia & $1199 Samsung S23 Ultra
Clearly Sony are splitting the cost of "free" WH-1000XM5 $200 more than the Ultra launch price

The Xperia I V is an exceptional phone it supports a 1TB memory card with a near perfect Gsmarena review between this and the Ultra there is NO wrong choice

The headphones retail at $399 / £380 / AU$650 as you can see once the phone price drops to $1000 which it will those on jumped are locked in for 2 years

You may be wondering why I have included the Pixel Fold, If I knew the answer to the astronomical contract prices being asked for this phone do you think I would be writing for free?
