Anonymous, 11 Jun 2023Well said, at least Xperia has microSD and headphone jack w... moreThe only niche one here is the Notification LED mind, but I haven't seen it for ages and have relied on vibrations/sound notifs instead rather than the LED (+ I don't use the AOD as its a battery sapper lol); I think the only thing that I would have a personal criticism of Sony for is not trying to bridge the 10 and 5 lines together with a powerful midranger that takes advantage of the strengths of both series, though I imagine for them its not worth the risk given how volatile that market segment is so they'd rather focus on flagships at the end of the day

Already have this on pre-order so will add some thoughts if I ever get the time to (or if someone reminds me), however I think this has been one of the most exciting devices to me personally bc of the fact that it continues to keep features that I care about the most whilst not caving into much of the current design or feature trends that exist; whilst I appreciate that pro photography is not my niche it would be good to learn personally, and may even be a bridging point between myself and getting a mirrorless camera in the future if I decide to do so :3
My initial reasons for going for this device over others is primarily my use case (listening to music on the device itself, general multimedia-heavy focus of this device by preserving things like the 3.5mm headphone jack + microSD slot, both of which I use though regrettably I chose the A90 5G from Samsung that omitted this in favour of the microSD card slot, and also being powerful enough to throw w/e at it without the need to worry about whether something works); I'll probably have to change some of my phone usage habits for definite however to accomodate for the software experience but here's hoping that I'll be able to use the phone well and easily going forward

They need to improve optical zoom to at least 10X (like Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra).
They also need to improve brightness of screen. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has 1750 nits brightness.
And finally, please keep the microSD card slot. I plan to switch from Samsung to Sony because Samsung did away with the microSD.

KaChai, 13 Jun 2023Here it is. https://electronics.sony.com/mobile/smartpho... moreI think Erin doesn't know what they're talking about. Every review I have seen states that it no longer has the LED notification. I, for one, will miss it as well. Such a nice feature to look over and be able to figure out if it's worth picking up the phone to check the notification right then or if it can wait.

Hi JuicyJ, thanks for your interests. Yes, it will.
With its next-generation Exmor T for mobile sensor and computational processing, the Xperia 1 V delivers low-light pictures that you never thought possible on a smartphone, with less noise and wider dynamic range – and videos with cinematic colour expression. Its imaging prowess is complemented by a host of other features, from immersive entertainment to functional, tactile design.
Regards,
Erin

Notification LED Lov, 10 Jun 2023No notification LED, no buy.I had three reasons to want this phone... (1) Front facing stereo speakers inside proper bezels that house all the necessary sensors thereby leaving the screen with NO holes (that may be more than one reason - LOL) (2) Headphone Jack, (3) Notification LED.
For the price of this phone I expect ALL these things to be there because I do not really like the 21:9 aspect ratio (but can live with it). I do not like the fingerprint sensor in the power button but can live with it also... (place it on the back 1st, or under screen 2nd.)
HOWEVER, for no logical reason (I don't care what their logic may be) Sony decided to REMOVE one of the most important features (TO ME) that virtually NO OEM has any longer...the notification LED!!!! Sorry Sony, but if I have to use a 3rd party app to get what I want then I might as well save some $$$$$ and stick with the Pixel. You lost another sale. You are bending over dollars to pick up dimes!

Notification LED Lov, 10 Jun 2023No notification LED, no buy.I hope you're sincere and not mocking. I heard Android 14 allows camera flash and screen flashing as notification and that's why Sony removed the LED. Regardless, the custom LED is much better than those in Android 14. I'd rather take notification LED and one 5x telephoto over moving 3x-5x telephoto lens.
