They seek Xperia because the other OEMs are removing features that only can be found in Sony Xperia these days, right? Sony approach maybe flawed but considering everyone is removing everything because following of Apple's footstep, option to pick Sony somehow become more sensible.

porkiemix, 19 Mar 2025Contrary to the above, there is no Dynamic VibrationI mean the teardown of the Xperia 1 VI that shown a coin-shaped vibration instead of the big, rectangular vibration did indicate that Dynamic Vibration System was discontinued by Sony forever, but the main question, which Xperia flagship that axed the DVS that was introduced by the Xperia XZ2 of 7 years ago? Was this or 1 V? It's definitely not the first two Xperia 1 series AFAIK

Anonymous, 18 Mar 2025>Stock Android offers a dire, customization-lacking, mis... moreOff the top of my head, these are the most irritating aspects (Android 15):
- Round icons everywhere (I find that mildly revolting), can't customize the shape (even pared down Nubia UI allows for that). Can replace a launcher to fix that, but that will prevent me from using Private Space functions.
- Material You color offerings are horrific, there's only a single "custom" color not derived from wallpaper, which of course can't be edited. And all of them are pastel colors. I mean, seriously, pastels? Also no option to change the drab grey backgrounds to something darker, or true black. Would have to root to fix all of this, voiding my warranty.
- This is probably the most egregious one, given the removal of the notification LED: No customization to ambient display (AOD) - there are two options, on and off. No timings, no variations, nothing.
I find it sloppy, amateurish, and ill thought-through. It's exactly the kind of thing I expect from Google, given their focus being first and foremost data mining. But from a $1400 device I should be able to expect some decent customization options, at least on par with the basics even Chinese manufacturers bother to provide.

Anonymous, 18 Mar 2025Dream to waste money for sure. Those who seeks old-school features only had very few option these days, and 1 VI is the top of the line of offerings these days. So for some people, these could be their dream phone. Like, do you see what Samsung did with A56/A36? They removed the one thing that made those phones has an appeal over many midranges these days, the MicroSDXC card slot. Or how on earth they made S25 Ultra's S-Pen feature to match as the G Stylus 2024's stylus, when S24 Ultra's S-Pen is pretty much the standout?

I would say that with faster charging rates, there is no way SONY can guarantee that the battery capacity will remain the same for four years.
If you prefer faster charging rates over battery longevity, there are multiple brands that can offer devices with 100W+ charging capabilities.
However, please try to accept the fact that there are folks out there (myself included) that would prefer to use the same device for longer than a couple years.

Clearly no. They have the worst chargargig capabilities of all flagships, old battery tech, only 3 major OS upgrades. That's clearly the sign on opposite of "best technology"

Anonymous, 11 Mar 2025Does the headphone jack even matter without Hi-DAC?The sound is good from the jack. I compared it to my fiio m11 pro, so obviously it's necessarily a bit less good, but the question really arises of switching from one to the other. The only flaw is the low output power, and I think that with headphones that are quite difficult to "drive", the Sony is no match. But with a small portable headset it's ok and the listening quality too.

TheSnowWinterR7, 06 Mar 2025This is ONE of the VERY last complete-feature package flags... moreHardware-wise, it's really unbeatable. I bought a Nubia with the hole-less display, and it's just not perfect (yet) - you can always see a greenish smudge where the camera sits. That, coupled with the annoyance of a missing SD slot made me return it, ended up getting the 1 VI.
The only thing that really needs improving is software, the operating system. Stock Android offers a dire, customization-lacking, miserable experience these days. Software could compensate for the few things 1 VI is doing wrong, like the missing notification LED, but for some baffling reason Sony didn't bother.
Laziness or ineptitude, I can't tell. But it's a damn shame, needlessly holding the phone's potential back. It just doesn't feel like a $1400 device thanks to it.

Anonymous, 11 Mar 2025Does the headphone jack even matter without Hi-DAC?When the option to have a phone in 2025 with a proper 3.5mm headphone jack is dwindling to only a handful of devices like the Xperia 1 VI, Zenfone 12 Ultra, Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 5G, and Samsung Galaxy A06, with or without Hi-DAC, if they insisted on wanting a headphone jack regardless of the state of the device, they had no choice but to sacrifice more and sacrifice something at the end. It's not the 2016-2019 smartphone era anymore, where there were more possibilities of options back then than there are now, and we don't have to sacrifice anything to get what we wanted or at least, less sacrifice than in 2025. I would understand your comment back then, but now? You can see yourself how many devices these days that have it old-school techs.
