Any body know fix for sim dedicated but says no service

    Coming back to this phone in 2023, I only noticed the AOSP Open Device program for several Sony phones*. It turns out that Sony rolls out Android 12.0 binaries for this phone. If you think about it, Sony can officially roll out a third OS update to this phone. After all, both Samsung and LG flagship phones of 2019 do receive stable Android 12 OS updates. I don't mind this AOSP program thing since I used to flash custom ROMs, but most average consumers don't do that kind of thing.

      Xperia5user, 02 Feb 2023Fingerprint sensor not working after 2 month of useMine took longer before the fingerprint scanner failed, 2+ years of usage, got this phone on release day. Also, this has dropped more than I can remember to count, so not really the phone's fault.

      Just had it repaired for 55 SGD and it works again as per normal. Been waiting for this phone to break beyond use so I can replace it already, this year's the release of Xperia 5 V already, hahaha.

            The battery life is ok it can run for 5 - 7 hours om regular usage as my area is not on gaming and heavy use but on whatsapp browser ms office e.t.c
            The battery saver is very good and extends the life a lot
            It is a very good phone overall but it depends on which phone you got
            The one i got was in very good condition and it may differ from phone to phone
            If you have the money then i recommend getting a new phone but if you care about gaming and dont mind the reduced battery life for a cheap price then you can get this phone
            The phone is amazing and even with 60hz feels smooth . Its rare for the phone to lag(at least for me)

                Slight spots on body but it looks good still
                The camera is awesome and the phone was very cheap
                Battery health is 2713 MAH as of now and very good as i was able to run the phone from 6:30am to 9pm without any need to charge
                10% left by then
                No Heavy Gaming only whatsapp chess edge e.t.c

                    For the finger print. There is one technic i use that probably 90% read my finger print. You need to swipe a bit your thumb from bottom to up. Its not only cleanup the sensor also make easy sensor to read your thumb print (as expected when you swipe,same time clean the sensor)

                      1. Battery sucks ? yes and no, from a used phone (japanese provider used phone), its still good enough, I daily drive this phone (without gaming, only internet time, whatsapp and other social media) and able to stay within 20% at the end of the day.

                      2. As for camera, it's been a long time since sony have a great camera performance. I have ZFold 2 too, and always using it instead of my beater Sony Xperia XZ1 to take a picture due tobad low light performance, inconsistent results, and video is even worse). The Xperia 5 able to keep up with the Z Fold 2 and way more natural compared to the samsung. Even at night, the Xperia 5 can take a great shot, without using pro mode. The only downside is, it takes a long time to save a picture, and sometimes not saving it.

                      I've been using Sony since like Xperia L, so yeah for the first time, their camera performs as I expected

                      3. Fingerprint ? Yes, they are by far the worse experience I've ever had. I somehow managed to find a way to make fingerprint reading better, but cant give a consistent result.

                      4. Spaker and Mic ? Both are good enough. My XZ1 used to have a great speaker and mic, but after numbers of diving in chlorinated pool and exposure to water with high mineral, the mineral kinda deposits on the speaker and ruins them (crackle), and people struggling to hear me too. I guess the culprit is the air dried water left deposits on the speaker and mic, check your unit. Now after exposure to those water, i rinse my phone with demineralized water, dries them manually by using tissue for earpiece speaker and both mic. Lastly plays a water ejecting sound for a few minutes.

                      4. Overheat ? Only when recording 1080p 60fps inside a warehouse during mid-day in equator with no vents. That is my only experience of overheat. Oh, and when playing audio (or watching video) the lower speaker kinda hot, i dont know why.

                      5. Overall ? Good enough, no lagging, I often have a videocall for more than 40minutes and it is indeed warm, but not hot enough to cause freeze or stuck.

                      I think you get a bad unit, is it used or new ?

                        Update: The phone is dead. Possibly has a bloated battery after 5 months of use. Need replacement. Bad Luck.

                                  I've been thinking about getting one of these to use mainly to film music videos, all in the "do it yourself" way and I have a few questions:

                                  1) Which are the safest places to buy a second hand/refurbished unity?
                                  2) Samsung S9+/S10/Note 9 are better alternatives it in any way?

                                  I'm asking it because these Samsung models are way easier to find (I can get one tomorrow if I had money right now), but I'm really curious about Sony and their cameras.
