Network compatibility is not an issue since all versions of the Xperia 5 II have compatibility with my country's (UK) operators.

The real question would be: is there a significant difference between the XQ-AS52 and the XQ-AS72 models besides the internal storage? is there a reason for the one with more internal storage to be a lot cheaper than the other one? Will there be any significant problem if someone use different version in different region (except no 5G in US)?

I find the XQ-AS72 256GB (China, HK, TW model) to be cheaper ~+/-£569 on Internet Stores than the former XQ-AS52 128GB (European model) at £799 in UK.

MV, 14 Feb 2021Honestly I don't understand what they did with it. And... moreWhich model are you using XQ-AS52 or XQ-AS72? My XQ-AS52 was fine with Android 11 as like Android 10, even fixed some issues. But, my screen got damaged by dropped from the stairs. Now ordered new one but XQ-AS72. I'm so scared after seeing all negative comments about Android 11. My concern, is it related to the different models like XQ-AS52 or XQ-AS72, or are they both same regarding to the performance?

Hi Guys I see a lot of update related issues. I don't have this phone but i'm planning to get one. Just curious, does any of you clear the partition cache after the update? this should fix update related issues like battery drain and slow responsiveness.

Please let me know, i'm currently stuck with my exynos note 10 and battery is not it's best suite.

SEUL8TR, 16 Feb 2021Why update too 11? Where you not happy on 10? It's yo... morePhone is my work instrument and it has to be spot on. Security and other updates are crucial. Unless you want to get hacked or have malware on your phone etc. Why you buy new phone if you not bothered with any updates? Use Nokia 3310 instead...

My point is if I pay money for a thing it has to work as it should, with all updates, all functions. I don't need half baked product.

Android 11 sucks. In 8 hours overnight it lost 6%, while on Android 10, it lost 4%.

It's you people on tech sites who care and take updates so seriously, while 90% ain't bothered, neither am I.
Nothing is wrong, why update or fiddle, or looks like you're phone is your life?

Tann Hauser, 14 Feb 2021Well, if true, that is waaay too much, even for some lousy ... moreThat's the thing- battery manager says apps running normally, but they're not. Yesterday restarted the phone numerous of times. Looks like restart helps to stop battery leakage. Will need to uninstall/reinstall all apps, see if that helps. Developer RAM option shows that almost 3.5gb of ram is used by OS! In my opinion it's way too much.

MV, 14 Feb 2021Honestly I don't understand what they did with it. And... moreI've gone through about 3 or 4 YouTube reviews of the Android 11 update and two reviewers particularly mention that performance/response feels improved and battery lasts as good as android 10.

One reviewer said this " most apps will recreate their caches the first day(depending on how many apps you have and start) they will run in background and eat CPU which makes the device a bit slower than usual and of course use more battery ..... " but after this battery should be back to normal

MV, 14 Feb 2021Honestly I don't understand what they did with it. And... moreWell, if true, that is waaay too much, even for some lousy OEM update. Id recommend a hardware restart, but few people are ready to do that, me included, so...
Most probably you ve got a memory leak, ie. some app you re using not being accustomed with A11...
What does your battery managment say? All apps running normally?
Go to your battery usage pattern and see whats draining the most juice. If its some app, delete, then reinstall.
Additionaly, go to advanced developer options, ram memory usage, see what apps are constantly active, foreground and background. From my experience, the answer always hides there.
                  Hope this helps.

GoToSchool, 14 Feb 2021wow now i'm scared of updating lol. I won't say ... moreHonestly I don't understand what they did with it. And looks like they're not very responsive to the issues. It's midday now and its 3 hours from when I took my phone off charge and it is 42% I did one phone call (about 20minutes), some FB time (maybe 10mins max) and video call through Signal (10-15 mins). Phone is actually quite warm and you can see battery drops literally in front of your eyes! Now its 39% that's 3% down from what I mentioned above in like 5 minutes!

So... Another rather annoying negative thing about this phone: after Android 11 update it's overheating and battery drains ridiculously fast... That's 20% drop in an hour at the time of writing. If I use phone more heavily through the day, I have to charge it TWICE! That's some time (good week or so) passed after update, so apps defo had enough time to "get used" to new OS...

And that's just browsing internet, I don't play ANY games!

                        Absolute joke of a phone...

WISH I kept my old trusty OnePlus 6...

                          Loud too.
Its a great mobile sound experience.

It really is a joy watching for ex Netflix movies n series on this phone. Esoecially if them are full 21:9 screen. And most newly released indeed are.

Love the stereo sound speakers from this Xperia 5ii. The front firing dual speakers set up is amazing. U must turned on the Dolby Atmos mode to enjoy the vibrant sound. Someone may argue the loudness compare to those single speakers or others flagship. But try listen in normal environment. The mid tone is so real where u can hear the significant sound reproduction. Thanks Sony!

                                Hmm funny.
Half people says great signal, half says extremely bad.

You who have signal problems - what color your device is? Is it dual sim? What country are you from?
Maybe we can figure out a pattern?
                                Thanks all

You have returned it so I don't know why you seem to be so upset? My phone is a UK stock and I can confirm it does not have any issues. It's actually better than many brands in terms of picking up signals when other phones can't .

I am happy with it! You should find a phone you be happy with instead of wasting your times with messages here when you already returned the phone!
