2. The P30 and this are not in the same price bracket or even league.

Needless to say its priced in the same range as the Flagships from Apple and Samsung? Its a "Premium" phone with a "Premium" price tag. If that does not justify the price the 3.5mm and HD jack will.

wired charging is more efficient, and for the price you are getting an uninterrupted screen with headphone jack and sony camera features. comparing the price to samsung's current high-end phones that lack those, i think it's worth it

The inclusion of a dedicated DAC for wired headphones makes those so much better than anything else I've heard. Sound quality (through headphones) has always been a priority for me on phones. It's also why I want aux jack and SD card. I am not always around WiFi for streaming, so store a lot of music on my phone.

That said, I've heard folks say the 360 audio on the 1 and 5 are amazing. There's no DAC for wired headphones, which is unfortunate. There is an "LDAC," but this is essentially upcoding for wireless headphones. Having an aux jack in itself speaks to their commitment to audiophiles. Bluetooth streaming of sound can be convenient, but it's still maybe not at the sound quality of wired connections. The gap between wired and wireless is closing. I hear a difference, some may not, or even prefer the sound through Bluetooth.

The 5 and 1 iii both will come with Dolby Atmos compatibility which certainly is a plus for those situations where it is applicable. There are also various other aspects of the phone that are supposed to give a better audio experience, such as DSEE ultimate, which kinda sorta acts like a DAC in some respects to my understanding. And indeed, there are folks who truly don't hear much of a difference with the various audio enhancements currently available. But with LG out of the game, the Sony likely will be the best choice out there for those who are more discriminating and discerning with and about their music.

Would've been a great device if they could manage to drop it in 700-800$ region.

it made me choose 1ii over 5ii, well not really the main reason - bigger display with 4k reso is really my reason as it is supposed to replace my z5 premium...
i have a wireless powerbank which i can bring everywhere, one of my "hang out" place also have wireless charging embedded on their table...
but... but... i must admit that my 1ii gets warmer compared to wired charging, and my powerbank only outputs 10watts, so imagine, it is warmer yet slower than the charging brick it comes with (18watts)...
so i only used it on my 1ii when needed (outside, which is seldom as i am wfh)
though my other phone, v50s uses it more often since i am lazy to detach the second screen when the battery is low...
so you get pros and cons for every tech...
apparently, sony thinks you dont need wireless charging if you want a small phone "or" they prioritize better cooling and size over wireless charging (you cannot fit "all" on a "small" phone)

On the subject, I can only tell my experience: 360 audio on my 5II sounds uniquely exquisite in quality through headphones, as I've never experienced sound on that immersive level so far, dolby stereo from them balanced front facing speakers is most immersive sound experience I've personally ever heard from any phone so far, and judging accordingly the 1III's and 5III's 360 audio enhancement from front speakers themselves should also sound uniqely immersive also.
With those Sony audio processing enhancements, it really is a great mobile sound system altogether, be it mark II or mark III series.

Putting a phone onto some spot to a nonmobile wireless charger or putting a phone to charge via a usb cable, is all the same.
But wireless charger charging is a much, much slower option.
