Yazo, 17 Apr 2021Hey Sony it's time for new compact model.... Wait, Yazo, didn't you read Anonymous?? Can't have a narrow screen because apparently you need "girly fingers." Apparently Anonymous couldn't type on a smartphone until a two or 3 years ago...

One of their main selling point is their camera system along with their photo and cinema pro app to offer similar experience of their alpha cameras with a lesser price. Not everyone owns a DSLR. Also, not everyone brings their professional cameras with them all the time.

Where do I pre-order these phones I live in United States

Alpha, 18 Apr 2021Oh the irony! Sony has nothing new but Apple does right? Ma... moreThey are not wrong actually. If you look at the Xperia 5 II compared to the 5 III, you'll realize there is in fact not much of a difference.

The main turn off for me is the bloody long display and that ridiculous pricing which is basically equivalent to both the S21 Ultra and Mi 11 Ultra. For the price, they should at least offer larger camera sensors for proper low light performance, a brighter and larger display (even the mid-range Samsung A52 5G has a larger and brighter screen), and a larger battery.

Guess the majority of the consumers who vote with their brains and not brand loyalty can depend on the loyal Sony Fan Cult to fund Sony this year again, which will offer them yet another chance to test the market with their next iteration. If they can get it right the next round, we'll thank the loyal Sony Fans for sticking with Sony through thick and thin and sponsoring all of their past iterations/projects that had constantly failed to gain a significant amount of mobile market share (Currently, Sony's presence in the mobile space is still too insignificant that they are nowhere to be seen in the official market share charts. It is evident that the MK II phones failed to gain attention, which is highly likely caused by the ridiculous price to feature ratio. Positioning against the Mi 11 Ultra and S21 Ultra will continue this downtrend, sadly.).

Here's to hoping the Sony Fan Cult would continue defending and funding Sony's experiments! The rest of us will go for the complete product if Sony succeeds in future iterations! See this as a win-win on both sides. Cheers!

Wouldn't it be nice if Sony made a compact version of this, maybe with 130-135 x 68 x 8.2 mm dimensions (while having at least 3300-3500 mAh of battery). One can dream...

I use a DSLR for that kind of photography. I currently use an iPhone X 256GB. I'm still thinking of upgrading to an iPhone 13 Pro, this phone doesn't bring anything new compared to the previous model apart from a far superior display from what I can tell isn't LTPO. Perhaps the Xperia 5 IIIII will change my mind lol

Go to your friend that has a digital camera and press the shutter button and see what happens once you do. Completely different than what happens if you map some volume key to capture the image in camera app.

Having the narrow display makes typing a big pain unless you have little girly fingers , not to mention doing anything in landscape that requires some ceiling room either almost impossible or just as you put it , a horrible experience.
They seem to have good specs otherwise with the 3.5 mm headphone jack , and SD card and good internal hardware and i would buy one tomorrow if the screen was a better size , but for many people that narrow screen will be an instant deal breaker , i know it is for me .
The sad thing is , most other flagships do not have the SD card and 3.5 mm headphone jack ,
sony had a good opportunity to corner the market with a top specced phone , but blew it with the narrow screen .

It cut off a portion of the black film of the display hence it would be visible under direct light. See S21's ultrasonic or even optical would have a slightly visible 'hole/mark' on the screen when its off. Sony would not risk their beautiful 4k oled display for that, as so on the little 5 III as well.
