What the hell is wrong with the fingerprint sensor on this thing? I thought it would be a relief going back to a non under-display one for speed and efficiency. Was also excited to try a side-mounted one for the first time.
Turns out this thing is the worst one I've ever had. consistency os appaling and the side position sounded a lot better before in theory. My S20fe 5g fingerprint sensor feels bloody using after using this thing.

Anonymous, 09 Jan 2023I have never been so disappointed in a mobile phone as this... morei face all the above problems, another major issue is that overheat why too much for basic tasks. I do live in a hot climate (31c avg). The phone is constantly over 40c and lags horribly over 45c. STUPID OVERPRICED PIECE OF CRAP. My mom's 300 usd redmi runs smoother than this crap. I usually keep my phone for 5 years, I am seriously doubting if this crap can last this long.

I have never been so disappointed in a mobile phone as this one.
* It lags a lot, like hello 2010 again. Specs sure doesn't look real at all. Can lag directly from laying idle, or after some use. Does appear totally random.
* Keyboard does not want to appear when you want to write. extremely annoying.
* If you are on a low speed wifi network, phone doesn't switch to 4G or 5G. You will basically be offline and the only fix is to disable wifi.
* when someone calls, it might not want to let you answer it. annoying.
* whenever you touch the phone it thinks you are scanning you finger, so when you really want to use you phone finger scanner is blocked so you need to enter lock code..
* plus side: it does take good pictures, and has a long battery life.

Those "200mp" cameras use 4x4 array of same colour pixels to produce same 12.5mp images. This is just a marketing trick to claim (poor quality and remosaiced) 200mp images and 8k recording.
One problem with Sony is that they're still using same 1/1.7" sensor. They should use 1" 20mp RGB sensor and show the world their smartphone photographic superiority.

There is not much choice out there, if you like a smaller phone. The Xperia 5 iv is simply amazing. It is small and still a flagship. Battery life is great and the camera is very good. I have used it before but changed to the bigger brother 1 iv as it was too small for me. But anybody out there that likes small phones, go for it. There is nothing in that size that can beat it.

Before buying, has anyone managed to import any gcam mod? And pls, don't start the 'you get a Sony phone for the manual pro modes' cuz honestly am not a professional photographer, I am quite aware of settings and all BUT still gcam pics come out much better in any case

I bet you it will look garbage in real life when doing a side by side comparison taken by a knowledgeable photographer & not some tiktoker or instagramer. Heck that fake 200mp camera cant even beat a 5 year old iphone X camera.
I even doubt you ever owned an Xperia Flagship device before if you think it doesnt support fast charging.
Other than enjoy your cheap chinese junk with its pos camera.

Sony literally has no idea how to design a smartphone. I love their alpha cameras but wtf is this? No fast charging? Only 12MP camera (my 200MP Xiaomi destroys this). You can't compare these 12MP cameras or iPhone with the level of quality and zoom in 100MP and above. This Xperia is just the same as all the rest before it with only tiny improvements for absolutely ridiculous price.

Anonymous, 23 Dec 2022 12MP in 2022? Nokia had a 41MP back in 2012.High resolution can be useful but must of the time you will just use 12MP because bigger pixels are more important.
