this processor is a downgrade. Samsung processors are always a no for heating issue. could have used 8+ gen 1

Happy for some things and sad for others. For me the good is flat sides, flat screen, no punch holes, all "needed" sensors in the top bezel (where they belong), front facing stereo speakers, expandable storage, headphone jack, no tools needed to install SIM, notification LED!
The bad is that the phone is a little too expensive...but this is NOT a midrange phone...this is a "smaller" flagship with more goodies than ANY OTHER flagship on the market...so the price is not that far out of line! NO CHARGER? Not even a lowly cable? NOT GOOD SONY!!!!!!! I do not have a drawer full of chargers as mine go with the phone when I sell it! And last-but-not-least is the potential for overheating! While I do NOT really care about the camera tech, on those occasions when I do want to use my camera for making a video, I expect a $1000.00 phone to function without having a nuclear meltdown! How ironic that the Fukushima meltdown took place in the same country where this phone originates! Will it need to be called the "Fukushima 5 IV"? They should have most definitely used the 8+ Gen 1. So we will have to wait and see if they screwed up with the SOC choice. Like the cameras I do not really care which SOC is in the phone as long as it works well and doesn't burn my hands, or stop working because of overheating. So now we wait for the end user reviews!

At first I thought I'm finally going to buy a Sony phone but when I came across the chipset and I saw its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 I immediately quit and changed the page.

Great phone and really considering it as an upgrade from my XZ1C but at that price will have to really think. maybe wait for it to come down in price. earbuds for preorder > why not knock of 20%, that would be better.... Price... really....

Sony broke its back by ending the Z series. Otherwise, it would have been competing with Samsung

Always with poor and weack cameras .And the processor could be the 8gen+,because that is old . Relation-price is very expensive for the mobile it is.....maybe between 300 and 400 euros will be right price.

Sony is like LG back then, releasing phones with older processors and that's where they started losing market share! 1000 dollars without cable, without charger and without 8 plus gen 1???

Anonymous, 01 Sep 2022I don't understand why Sony used older CPU, big failed. 8 gen1 definitely not a deal-breaker. It's not something you'd notice ever. Even Snapdragon 845 is still an overkill CPU for whatever you'd ever do on a phone.

Sony most likely already had a contract signed for 8 gen 1 before anyone knew 8 gen 1 plus would be a thing

                            I'm really sorry for Sony!
Currently, our only choice from the Android world is between Samsung and Chinese mobile phones!
Why didn't Sony go to the Middle East? I want Sony.

I’m already sold. This will be my next phone. I’ve been waiting for five years (while holding on to my aging galaxy s8) for a relatively compact phone with oled, card slot, headphone jack, excellent battery life and wireless charging.

Worse camera setup then Xperia 5 III and still more expensive. Why? Doesn't make any sense.
