from the specs sheet it has USB Type-C 3.2 port with DisplayPort. So does it have a DeX/Ready For like mode to display on a monitor or TV screen? It would be a waste if not, expecially at this price point

P C M, 01 Sep 2023No telephoto lense, no buy. Sony have just lost its bigge... moresony being sony lol

side bezels are big mistakes. sony reduces their chance of selling their xperia 5 v even more

Ugly and tacky stuff, boring, outdated design and those edges can land a plane!!! luckily apple comes to show these manufacturers how to make a flat panel with thin edges to these obsolete manufacturers

Very disappointed...but,yeah,noting unusual for Sony. How can you motivate somebody who owns a Samsung S23 ultra 1TB to even look at this phone specs?

              1000 euro???? lmfaoooooooooooooo

                shame they removed telephoto camera

I Had lot of hopes on the mobile and also this will be my next mobile after Xperia XZ1,
Now i say confidently that sony mobile division will close for sure.....
worst flagship mobile in the history of flagships.....
around 1000 EURs for 8Gb ram mobile and the mobile display clarity incomparable to XZ1 display color richness.....
Soo shame on me for being a sony fan......

They have even overtaken the iPhone when it comes to looking like a $50 phone :'D let me in charge of your mobile division Sony. I can do a better job.

                          Very disappointed:

                          1. No 256gb option for those who don't use microSD.
                          2. No telephoto. Even though zoomed photos look good, it's not 2.5x like before. Also, more detailed testing will reveal superiority of an actual telephoto.
                          3. No option to reduce refresh rate when not in use
                          4. Thicker bezels than before

Despite above cost cutting measures, it's probably cost even more than before to buy.

                            Hello friends,

Was waiting eagerly for the 5 V to be announced as I am on the market for a new phone...

Current user of a P7 - the only thing that makes me happy about this phone is the camera. The weight and the sh** modem and battery life is making me look for other options though. I find myself carrying a portable charger when I'm out and about as this thing won't last. And the weight is absolutely atrocious.

Never owned a Sony phone but would you recommend the 5V? - I see a lot of you guys are pissed at it missing a telephoto lens but I don't have one in P7 and this is my favorite camera phone by far... The only thing that concerns me is the weight - it's about 14g heavier than the s23 and 10g than the 5 IV...

But it' still 15g lighter than the P7 brick... would that make a big difference you reckon?

Or should I go with S23 or the xperia 5 IV ?

I used to own high end samsungs - the ultras and the notes for years and wasn't that big of a fan of their cameras and their camra processing, but the s23 seems like almost a complete package right now at least.

But again - I'd like to have a lighter phone with good camera than the P7 so open to hearing your opinions

P C M, 01 Sep 2023No telephoto lense, no buy. Sony have just lost its bigge... moreWhy are you crying over some dark small telephoto lenses?

A good primary sensor like the one being used here is tons of times better. Telephoto is still a rarity in smartphones and for good reason.

Sony have just lost its biggest advantage in compact segment. 😭😭They used to offer same camera as the bigger one unlike other android brands.

[deleted post]Overheating in sony xpera III mostly was because of sd 888 chipset, you can't say it was sony problem, all of device with that chipset had same fate like battery draining and being super hot and uncomfortable to hands on the device.
If you want to wait for pixel you should remember you will loose sd card slot and 3.5 port.
Google has one the best software policy in mobile industry but in hardware side you have a chipset that could have heating and battery drain problem, you should consider to check too many review before buying it after it release globally.
Also, you can try with chinese brands like bbk and xiaomi.
Xiaomi will release 13t series that could be good to consider and bbk will release vivo x100 series.
Just ask yourself, what do you expect from new phone?( and why you bought sony smartphone)
Currently i'm using xiaomi 12t pro and it's miui 14 is also optimized and i heard vivo's ui is also good.
If you go to those devices that i mentioned you will have very good charging and camera too.

[deleted post]Same here on my 5III. Overheating like crazy and now I sent it to the service centre as the FP stopped working. I already bought the Honor Magic 5 Pro. A much better phone than the Xperia 1/5 V IMO
