Purchased from The Source in Ontario, Canada. I've had the Xperia E1 for one day so far, but feel like I've had enough time with it already to comment.
Starting with pros I have to say the UI is excellent, it makes the phone feel far more polished and superior to other budget phones like Huawei and Alcatel. Performance while navigating the UI is very pleasant, and the phone packs enough performance to play some bigger 3D titles. While the plastic body looks and feels cheap it also feels rugged in a certain way, like you don't need to put it in a case at all. Contrary to listed specs the screen is actually PLASTIC, while some would consider this a con I would say it's a good thing, since it's marketed as a music phone one would expect people to take this to the gym, running, cycling etc. A plastic screen is much less likely to crack during rough activities than a glass one. Still you will want to put a screen protector on it ASAP, because scratches will only degrade the screens image quality even further!
For some negatives, I'd have to criticize the screen quality, I haven't seen a phone screen this bad in many years. Despite the dpi, text and images are rougher than you'd expect, blurry and grainy. Colors are washed out and viewing angles are terrible.
The camera comes next on the list. I KNEW when I bought the phone it was only 3mp, but with today's technology that's no excuse for it to perform so poorly. The shutter lag is so bad, two people I tried to photograph said "cheese", then walked completely out of frame before the picture snapped! Details are so lacking that photographs taken in perfect conditions look like smeared oil paintings. It's sad because $99 phones had better cameras than this 4 years ago. Sony should be ashamed! The cheaper Desire C, Huawei Y530 and Lumia 520 all have superior cameras.
My final complaint will be the LAG. Actually, during most functions the phone performed rather well. The UI is smooth as butter and gaming performance is excellent. There are some strange lags however, such as when unlocking the phone, opening the camera app, switching from an app to mms and back, and worst of all the web browser performance. Most of these lags were show stoppers, requiring me to wait several minutes until the phone "caught" up and behaved normally. The web browser is the worst because there are many web pages that just cannot load no matter what. The android browser will crash to the launcher and Chrome will give a low memory warning and fail to complete the operation (I was posting an ad on kijiji to sell my E1, lol).
Many will say that it's because of the phone's low spec, you get what you pay for blah, blah...but if I didn't have a Huawei Y530 sitting beside the E1 right now with identical chipset that exhibited none of these lags I would agree with you.
Plus when you consider that the Huawei has a much better IPS display, scratch resistant glass screen, 5Mp camera of MUCH better quality that shoots 720p AND a front facing camera, a more premium body construction AND is $20 cheaper...well...I think I'll be justified bringing this phone back tomorrow for an exchange.
Thanks for putting up with an extremely long post. In actuality I really want to like this phone, it has a lot of style and spunk going for it. But my kids start summer vacation next week and I'm saddened to think of how many priceless memories will be lost on this devices poor camera. I have a hardware upgrade coming up next month, so I may actually keep the device as a "beater" music device when I'm mountain biking, and to let my kids use it as a tablet-like device for playing android games.
Still, nothing will send a better message to companies like Sony that consumers will not accept this garbage, than mountains of returned devices from dissatisfied customers.
Please learn from my experience, I hope it helps you make the best choice!

Great value phone. Exellent media player. Bought this for my 15yr old son and he loves it. Easy to use fast.
Just had to make sure to set up the correct MMS/Internet details for the operator. Details for how to do it are on the Sonymobile.com website.
Just remember this is not a high end phone but a value phone. Compared to others in this price range this is excellent.
Though will not compare against an Z1/Z2 or S4/S5 or iPhone, but you can get 4 of these for the same price..

sss, 23 Jun 2014Recently i buy new E1 dual mobile in that earing speaker no... morefaced the same problems even more ....restarting itself for instance . As for your complains..I've drained my brain trying to make a lot of adjustements between network mode and sound options and finally got a good sound . It's unexpected from such brand like Sony ...but overall it's not a bad phone ....I'm still testing it hoping that finally it can satisfy my own needs

You can use up to 10 fingers for this phone actually. The video recording is 720p HD and you can play heavy games such as dead trigger, need for speed and other without any lag. This phone is worth the money
