Sony Xperia E5 battery life test

What good is a smartphone if you have to charge it every six hours or so? That's why the last couple of years phone makers have been trying to hit the right balance between potent specifications and acceptable battery life. In the case of the Sony Xperia E5, the company's credo is "more battery equals a happy customer."

That's why the small 5-incher boasts a 2,700mAh battery and happily, it's neither overly thick nor too heavy. During our testing of the phone, we had a glitch with a faulty software resulting in the need to redo the battery life test.

Thankfully, it was quickly fixed and here's how the Xperia E5 fared running software with the 37.0.A.1.133 build number.

Starting off with the 3G talk time test, the Xperia E5 managed a time of 11 hours and 29 minutes. That's in line with what Sony's official estimates suggest, but it's nowhere near as good as Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016)'s score of 22 hours and 23 minutes.

The Xperia E5 did okay in the web browsing test. Posting a time of 7 hours and 38 minutes, the diminutive smartphone didn't really impress, but it didn't fail miserably either.

In the video playback test, the Xperia E5 did rather badly at six hours 45 minutes. It still managed to outscore the Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016), though.
