my sxp is still in the warranty period. any of you think is it wise to exchange my p with a galaxy S2? it has no warrenty!

I bought a xperia p last day..I charged it 100 % then using it,but charge gone half within 3-4 hr..um just playing song....no software installed yet.no background application...Um worried...can any one told the avg behavior of xperia P battery....pls...!!

Yes, i do have a lots of user inst... moreThe cause of your problem might be couple of things, first, after any major update (OS change) couple full charges / discharges are mandatory (don't do update if you cannot let phone to charge to 100%), and second, lots of user programs means there is great possibility that some or couple programs cause troubles, or your programs are preventing your phone from getting to Deep Sleeo (check in BBS CPU Cycles, offline should be longest, and 200 MHz shouldn't last for hours).
Full charge/discharge cycles means you charge it all the way to 100% (You mustnot disconnect charger befire, or your battery got incorrectly calibrated), first charge should last couple of hours, and then you should discharge phone all the way to 10% or lower, and then charge again to 100%.

Yes, i do have a lots of user installed programs, probably more then a hundred.
When i upgraded the phone from ICS to JB, i just downloaded the ftf file and flashed it using the flashtool erasing everything on my phone, i.e. a clean install.
No, while charging for the first time after the upgrade, i could not charge it to 100%. I had a work to do and had to unplug it after 92 or 93% or so. And yes, for a number of times i used it until it got to 0% (or it got itself to 0% due to high battery drainage rate) and then pluged it on for charging.
Yes, it used to last more than two days, but thats about 3 months ago :(
I'll try the procedure u drscribed and let u know. BTW "Do couple full charge-discharges"- does that mean i should let it (or make it) drain to 0% from full charge a number of times?

Do you have lot's of user installed programs?
When You did upgrade from ICS to JB have you did standard installation (whit all data and programs remaining on the phone) or you did clean install (Repair)?
After upgrade, did you make 2-3 full charges (charged phone to 100% used it until phone turned off or got under 10%, and repeated process)?
Now let's try to solve it.
First backup all the data (accounts, pictures, music, documents, other downloads...)
Then do factory reset, erasing everything from your smartphone.
Repair your phone with SUS or PCC.
Sync your Google accounts to get contacts back, do not install any user programs (or just couple of them).
Do couple full charge-discharges.
It's normal for the first time that battery drains fast, just ignore it.
Do not install any battery-savers, anti-virus, task-killers etc. because you don't need it.
That should solve it.
You might also disable all Google location services (in Settings).
If problem persist picture your BetterBatteryStats with first screen on Kernel Wakelocks and Partial Wakeloks, after your charge the battery to 100% before going to sleep, and keep phone on standby (do not use it and do not power it off over night (picture screens in morning).
I can assure you that Xperia P batter can work for almost 3 days with modest usage (couple calls a day, and 15-30 minutes of surfing the web on WiFi) if you kill the Google Location, and keep GSM/DATA and WiFi always off (and turning WiFi when needed through pull down menu).

i wn... moreCharging time varies from user to user, I have Sony supplied fast charger but my charging time is about 2:30 hrs while other users have faster charging time (about 1 hour).
It's normal to have slower charging times when using PC or laptop USB connector since it gives less power then USB connector in charger.

After u see the Sony, as soon as the Xperia boot animation starts repetitively keep on pressing Menu button... See if the battery draining issue persist is safe mode

I am facing a problem with Contacts n Dialer on JB n I think it is being caused by using Google now, Voice Dialer or any app that uses voice, the problem is after using any voice integrated app, if I receive any call there is lag of 3 to 5 second for the ringtone and also when using recent call widget or Direct call shortcuts in calling the person there is lag about 3 seconds for calling to work. Is anyone facing such problem in Jellybean after using voice dialer or any voice integrated app ? Pls check it n confirm...

D supplied charger is better way to charge.. I tried using a samsung charger which took me near to 3 hours ti get it fully charged.. While only near to 1 hour 50 mins wid d supplied charger..!!

Please can anyone help?I am using stock jellybean fo rthis phone. I have to charge it three times a day without even any significant use! Battery drains by 10% an hour with the stamina mode on when i am not even using the phone (data, bluetooth, wifi etc being turned off). Tried factory resetting and flashing 5 or 6 times and using apps like better bettery states to find the draining apps (Tried uninstalling all the 3rd party apps). No apps other than other than some system apps (like kworker 5,7 etc) seemed to be draining the battery while in deep sleep. Can anyone help? At least tell me that wheather it's a problem of the rom or the battery? I am using this phone for 6 or 7 months and charged it with a samsung charger 3 times. Can it be a reason for such heavy battery drain? I have upgraded to JB like 1 month ago and this '10% an hour' thing started quite recently (2 weeks after the update). ICS battery life was poor too, but not this much (had to charge once or twice a day with low or less than moderate use). Please help! Is spare battery for this phone available?
