        Lame, Sony, I would have wanted a 1in 16mp with 3.0um pixels, especially since your 20mp version of these is 2.4um! 12mp 2.4um means you don't use the full sensor on this at all. Marketing this as a 1in sensor is BS! 1/1.12in GN2 binned at 13.5mp is 2.8um! Plus a small 2x and Ultrawide is a joke, why bother?

            Tony Northrup has evidence Pro-i can slaughter 13 pro (obviously just obligation because superior hardware).

            None of them wastes times praising overprocessed too much noise reduction crap from samsung.

              Maybe the xiaomi software is not that great but it does its job and camea is perfect.

              Compared to that Sonny have better software but a little bit worse camera.
              Other specs are simmilar apart the fact xiaomi uses MUI and Sony clean adroid experience.

              Only little difference is fact sony uses memory slot, 3,5 mm jack and such things nowdays no other flaship have.

              But fact is neither is outstamding.
              But to come to reality all i want to say paying 1800 for a Sony Xperia Pro 1 which is on par in Xiaomi iMi 11 ultra in most aspects compared to a eqal úphone without SD slot, 3,5 mm jack and a it worse camera software plus MUI skin for 720.

              Dunno like you but Sony added just few sweet crumbles over a well made chocolate cake but those sweet crumbless dont cost and dnt have a price difference of 1080 value.

                Still some silly comments on here after I gave a pretty balanced review on this soon to be available device. I suggest some who think they know it all go and have a read of it.

                A quick comment on sensor size and pixel binning:

                A device with a larger sensor and larger pixel size will nearly always win when compared with a device that has a smaller sensor and smaller pixel size (which then has to have pixel binning). Even if the small sensor and small pixel size device has 200MP camera (I'm being sarcastic), the 8MP camera with larger sensor and larger pixel size will beat it.

                The only time a larger MP based device will possibly beat it (more detail in my previous review) is for a very specific use like crop factor but we're really only talking when someone is needing to either enlarge an image beyond A2 size for printing or cropping an area at around 5x. Even then, you've still got to have a large sensor and pixel size paired with those huge MPs - otherwise it just won't be a better image result.

                I'm not even a Sony fanboy and my approach to all devices are if they are more unassuming and less in the face (from a marketing POV) then I'm probably going to opt at looking further into said device. All the pizazz of Samsung and Apple really puts me off as they are often recycling a lot of their tech. Apple have even brought out devices that were steps back in regard to generations of phones. They do well because of pure marketing, not because their phones are as good as they say. Samsung, in the battle to be top dogs b*llocks have joined the d*ck waving/measuring so for those companies it really boils down to who can make the most convincing advert/pitch.

                I don't mind some of the tech that Samsung has but the similarities in tactics to Apple with having literally nothing in the box except the device certainly puts me off. Both of these can put in chargers, cases, earbuds for free (factored into the price) but as I say, it's marketing. Just look at the launch of airpods...which then prompted Apple to bring out wired "holders" for your Airpods...the irony in paying £200/€220/$250 for them to be wireless and then have to pay another £60/€70/$90 to stop from losing them...if out and about, just have wired earbuds or some proper noise cancelling headphones. Yet consumers were "blown away" by the innovative product to keep their Airpods safe.

                Sorry, I've gone onto a rant about the gullible state of consumers and the enticing tactics by big companies. Essentially they think we are all magpies and just like anything shiny. Apple appear to have perfected the art of presenting a turd to the masses and somehow polishing it so it looks attractive enough. Well done them for leaving their morals at the door. I wonder when it happens again, if Microsoft will ever bail them out again?

                ~~~
                Anyway, back to the issue of sensor size and pixel size; short story is the more MPs a device has the larger both your sensor and pixels size has to be (in nearly every scenario for the average consumer - yes even most pro photographers too). But because of pixel binning everyone thinks this is fine. You'll notice the difference when put side by side, especially when it comes to missing data and areas of images that have simply been filled in. Pixel binning is good tech but if we're talking about better image quality...then you have to look at the initial hardware spec and my go to rules when deciding is this;
                1st - Sensor size
                2nd - Pixel size
                3rd - Megapixel number
                Anything else in the main, falls down to personal preference and ergonomics etc but the above is just based on pure image performance and results that I can achieve without any post production and so on.
                PS: Be nice to each other, even if you don't agree. There is not always as much time on this world as we think so have a little perspective when posting something that directly attacks someone. There's room for all of us :)
                                That 1.0-inch type imager is taken straight off the company's very popular RX100 VII compact camera, but it has been 'optimized for a smartphone'. What that means is that the Xperia Pro-I uses a big chunk of that sensor (but not all of it) to produce 12MP images with a 2.4µm pixel pitch - that's some 20% larger than the iPhone 13 Pro Max' pixels and about the same size as those from the Galaxy S21 Ultra's main camera, after binning. So despite not using the full 1.0-inch sensor area, the Xperia Pro-I does end up with a huge sensor only really bested by the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra and its 2.8µm binned pixels.
