Anonymous, 03 Feb 2023It's laughable to see Samsung market their S23 Ultra... moreIt really is time for Sony to make a new Xperia Pro-I Mk2, especially since both Xperia 1/5 Mk4 have 4K/120fps video recording support for the ultrawide and telephoto cameras, and this phone only has such a capability for the primary sensor.

Since the RX100 1" sensor is a native 3:2, Sony has to cut the sensor canvas either horizontally or vertically to match the 4:3 aspect ratio. That is why you see the equivalent of 1/1.33" since it was cut off from the native 3:2 canvas. If the 1" sensor is a native 4:3 like the IMX989 in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra/13 Pro and Vivo X90 Pro/Pro+, you can easily crop the sensor canvas to give a smaller 3:2 aspect ratio.
It's hard to understand all of this if you aren't into photography, but you'll understand that when you learn the basics of camera sensors.

However, Sony reworked the camera sensor to give 12MP and a 4:3 aspect ratio since they are more common in smartphone photography. I can't see any problem for Sony to keep the existing RX100 20.1 MP 3:2 camera sensor. All Sony has to do is give a fixed 24mm effective focal length, and that's it.

Buy RX100 camera and you can tell why 1 inch sensor is better than rest of under 1 inch sensor pocket cam and phone
BUT Still i prefer RX100 or ZV1 for REAL 1 inch sensor than Not Real (and Not Fake) 1 inch Xperia pro sensor

It's laughable to see Samsung market their S23 Ultra's 200MP camera as the next big thing, and yet the pixel size when binned to 12MP is no bigger than this phone. I definitely want to see Sony make a new gen Pro-I with SD 8 Gen 2.

This piece of junk had the best camera I have ever used in my life. The dedicated shutter button made taking photos with it even more of a pleasure. Never enjoyed taking photos as much with another phone. Sadly every single other aspect of this phone was a joke, from its terrible charging speed and battery life to its horrible faulty screen and laughably bad cooling.
Perhaps the worst thing was the utterly idiotic price tag of 1800€ at launch. Along with the accessories (I got the stand and the vlogging screen and separately too) and their ludicrous prices also. With cases, a screen protector and the accessories this phone cost me over 2500€!!!
I had to return it after 1 month because both my first one and the replacement had faulty OLED screens with crushed blacks. The second phone also had no ultrawide (it was disconnected and didn't show up in the camera app). Furthermore, whilst the vlog stand was good, the vlogging screen would flash black randomly whilst recording so I had to return that separately.
The price of this phone dropped 400€ in just 1 month and then 600€ after only 2 months, plus they started bundling it with BOTH accessories even 600€ off! I felt so ripped off.
I am so delighted to have this same sensor in my new Vivo X90 Pro+ which will arrive soon.
It truly was the most incredible sensor I have ever used. Like taking photos with a real DSLR. The first shot was ALWAYS perfect and the colors, focus, everything was just perfect OOTB. I hope the experience is the same with the Vivo. Sony makes the best sensors ever. I just wish they knew how to make and properly price a good phone.
