As for aperture, the bigger the camera sensor, the shallower the depth of field when you give a large aperture. If you give f/1.5 to a 1" sensor, it will create an unbalance background blur (bokeh) in daylight.

Why sony likes 4K screen? FHD+ ist better for a 6.5 inch display.

I'm honest, I'm a fan of xperia but your design is rubbish, had to wait months to get it, poor pre-purchase service, bad UI, more expensive than all flagships on the market, battery drains fast, heats up fast, poor execution, out of 100 you surveyed only some will buy the rest will buy from other brands.

Just sad it not come with SD888+ for that price shouldve had the lastest flagship SoC before SD898 arrives next year.

Great design, especially the rear camera system. But... The price of "around" 1,800 EUR is too high for a device that does not have eSIM and behind it is "Gorilla Glass 6", instead of "Gorilla Glass Victus". The real price should not exceed 1,000 euros. All in all, this is a beautiful phone, with Sony's famous build quality.

for your reference, it appears that this phone has same sensor as RX100, that itself is very impressive, for comparsion RX100 cost US$999, i believe only the Huawei p50 pro is comparable for photo and video quality, hence why sony is marketing this as first slim android smartphone with 1' sensor and 5g

Secondly, it is not right to compare this to other all-round phones. This is a camera which happens to make phone calls. This is mostly intended for a specific group of costumer, vloggers, content creators. But if we are to compare it to the phones you mentioned, they are mainly point-and-shoot phones, which is what most people need and want. Which also may produce better images in that area. But if you are a photographer or videographer who knows a thing or two about cameras, this phone would blow any iPhone or Pixel ever been made away. If you dive deep into that camera you'll see that you can produce a lot more versatile and better picture, which will save you the bother of carrying a heavy dedicated camera with all of its accessories. You'll realize that all need is just one smartphone.

i am not a vlogger... at least, yet, haha...
but if i do, i will get the whole package, along with external monitor and mic...
so as for now, 5ii, 5iii, 1ii, 1iii are more than adequate to my needs...
i really want to see how it progresses...
we seem to have powerful soc, so the bottleneck is somewhere else...
for camera hw, i would like this 1 inch sensor + dual aperture and the dual telephoto on 1iii be carried to the next xperia 1... or an upper midrange, as long as the soc is as powerful and efficient as sd865 or even sd855, not sd888 that is plagued with overheating yet performance is not significantly different to predecessors...

If this phone is purely for cinematography and if it's tested well, then the price might be adequate. I read the specs tells that there is 5 axis stabilization, and I don't know how does it work. If one doesn't need any gimbal after purchasing this one, then it might create wow effect! and then may buy Cinematographers. Personally, I shoot videos on phone and does good job for social network ;)

Alexz80, 26 Oct 2021LOL Still 888 Sony so so late in adopting new tech.Lmao imagine complaining for a chip that has been released not a year old, stop yapping dude not everyone are in chipsets and if you think SD888+ are a better upgrade than 888 then you might be a crazy one because it is only 5% faster than the predecessor.

I respect camera of Sony, they do excellent job. But the price of this phone is very expensive. And there are a lot of camera phones in the market and they are cheaper than this phone
You may buy:
1. iPhone 13 pro
2. Google Pixel 6..and many more brands
I would gladly hear why one should buy this phone, paying almost 2000 $
