my display keeps turning on and will turn off randomly, even if I am not pressing or doing anything on the phone...anybody has the same issue as mine? can someone point me in the right direction on how to resolve this?

- does it have the most impressive specs? no
If those are the features you are seeking, look elsewhere.
- if you want one of the most beautiful phones (hw-design) combined with the most clean and classy interpretation of Android, then Sony Xperia S is your phone.
