i really s... moredont worry for update if you buy sony, because sony is the only company who gave 3 stage update to x10i, 1.6-2.2-2.3
and also, sony is the only company to uppdate ENTIRE xperia 2011 series to ICS.

im bought xperia s 2 days ago, im so proud with this phone,HD screen, 12 MP camera and good looking...
when you hold this phone in your hand its like you hold gold made it from cotton, so light, and every eyes will see on your hand because white color and black color make it elegant .. esspecially when you receive incoming call, three button homescreen will shining like stars in the night - beautiful -...
the weakness of this phone only when you take night shoot, there is some noise on the the picture compare with xperia neo, xperia neo still teh best for night shoot...overall this phone exellent and macho

Dear All, I used Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo. This Phone got stuck and automatically it's switched off all the time. Now I'm using Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro. I'm not satisfied with this phone. Which one is better for me to use - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V / Sony Ericsson Xperia S / Sony Ericsson Xperia Ion???

I guess satisfaction will not be in issue. I just needed something new, like why you said regarding people pulling out their iphones & stuff. I guess Xperia S will be my very 1st sony phone. hey friends, i have used xperia arc, galaxy s, now using xperia pro.
if the network coverage is good, these phones are very fast 2 to 3 seconds to load full flash support pages..if the single core can do this in 2 to 3 seconds, can the dual and quad core can do this on zero seconds....people are blindly brand oriented...go make your decision people..I used this phone, sxs for couple of hours....I am really really impressed.....fast, smooth, beautiful design, super camera.

How would it compare to others? - that's something I cannot answer since I'm not using those others. Go to Youtube and you'd find plenty of clips comparing it to other phones.
The screen if awesome but viewing angles are not the best I've seen (although it isn't an issue since on the phone you normally look at it directly). It is really fast and fluid and no lagging whatsoever. Perhaps there are faster ones out there, but you wouldn't feel the difference unless you compare them side by side.
The camera if also awesome (both photos and video) and swipe panorama works flawlessly.
The battery has improved a lot after a month (that's how long I've been using it). I'm keeping all the options ON (including Bravia engine - not that I can distinguish much difference but what's the point of having it if you are not using it?). I try to drain it below 10% before recharging it fully - I think that's important (even though Sony would claim that it isn't).
I personally think the design is great, but if you don't like it - just don't buy it. I think it is very important to like your phone (which is sort of investment under current prices) - after all - you are going to look into it daily if not hourly! Someone said it's a "slab" - yes but nevertheless a very nice and original one! It sure doesn't look as cheap as the other hereby mentioned competitors' and it sure isn't a copycat of an iPhone (which BTW also looks great). Also, wherever I look, people are pulling out their iPhones and Galaxies and I do not wont to identify myself with them (but that's me).
To cut it short, I'm very happy with it. Would you be? I Have no idea!

AnonD-55295, 18 May 2012my friend has bought this phone i also thinking buy to xper... moremy dear..go fr xperia s coz in htc, u wil latr find sm problms relatd to surfing n internal processing....im using xperia s...... as sony has broken itz bond wid ericsson, their fones r now more efficient....u wil only find a problm in xperia datz, th availablity of only MICRO SIM jst as iphone....bt datz nt a big issue.. undoubtedly, go fr xperia s..... u wil lv it.. :)
