DreamDawn, 30 Jul 2012SHould I buy the SOny Xperia Sola? I'm not sure, i mean im ... moreDear DreamDawn,
I just ordered the xperia sola. I considered the other phones you are mentioning too. The main reasons I did not choose them were:
ray: screen very small, single core
U: small screen, memory card slot missing
P: very, very bad battery life
I think with the right power settings I will be able to get 2 or 3 days of use on the sola, using the phone moderate and if you were looking for an 8MP camera phone 5MP is already very good. At the beginning I had no the sola on my list because I was looking for an 8MP camera. I hope I could help you. Write on this section if you need more help. I will be glad to answer your questions. Have a nice day.

AnonD-65018, 31 Jul 2012@Glenn I need your help badly. Your also from the Philippin... moreMobile network state: disconnected
I really don't experience this, unless there is no signal in that area. If you are on "WCDMA prefered/GSM" you should have atleast GPRS connection if you have signal, instead of disconnected. if you are using "WCDMA only" you can be disconnected if there is no 3G signal in that area. But if you are sure that there is 3G signal there. set it to WCDMA only and get outside your house in an open area and try if you'll get 3G when data is enabled.

shino03, 30 Jul 2012Please could somebody help me. I've bought a new xperia sol... moreTo force your phone to get only 3G and HSDPA signals. Go to settings -> "wireless and network" -> "mobile networks". On network mode, choose "WCDMA ONLY" . . .
PS: if there is no 3G signal, switch back to "WCDMA preferred/GSM".

AnonD-65018, 31 Jul 2012@Glenn I need your help badly. Your also from the Philippin... moreYour firmware build number is :6.0.B.1.564
My Firmware build number is :6.0.B.1.576
You said your mobile network state is disconnected, So you can't even call or text?
If you can't even call and text maybe your phone is locked(not openlined). For example, phones from "Smart Network" plans will only work with smart network simcards. To make it work with other simcards, you need to open line the phone.
or you can't detect your mobile operator. To check if you can detect mobile operator, first of all, you should have a signal bar beside the battery icon on top of the screen. Also go to settings -> "wireless and network" -> "mobile networks". On network mode, choose "wcdma preferred/gsm" (you can choose "wcdma only" if you are sure you have 3G signal), Also go to network operators, and set search mode to automatic so your phone will automatically connect to globe network operator.

@Glenn I need your help badly. Your also from the Philippines right? I can't connect my xperia sola on the internet(mobile internet) because the 3g, edge, and hsdpa are not detected by my phone.(Data is enabled)
I'm also on globe.
I want to know your firmware. The seller who sold me the phone gave me a new unit(red) but I gave it back again as the problem of not detecting edge, 3g and hsdpa is still there. They are both running on the same firmware. Build number: 6.0.B.1.564
Also, in the status(settings) Mobile network state: disconnected
Is that normal even if I already enabled data on the settings?

Please could somebody help me. I've bought a new xperia sola last Saturday and it is fine except for a very poor signal. 3g, Edge or hsdpa is not detected by my phone. Help me please as I have only a day left to replace the phone if it is a hardware defect. I''ve also read in talk.sony that others also have poor signal in one firmware but I just don't know if it's the same with my case where the 3g, edge, hsdpa are completely absent
here's the link
talk.sonymobile.com/thread/43366?start=20&tstart=0
The sim is totally fine because before I changed my phone, the 3g, Edge, hsdpa icons can be seen on my galaxy ace.
I just want to know if this is a hardware defect because this is my last day to replace the unit if it is defected. I will not replace the phone any more if it is just a software problem, I can live with the weak signal for a while.
I'm running on an old firmware 6.0.B.1.564
As said before, the signal is very weak compared to other phones(It can't detect Edge, 3g, or Hsdpa signals; it did detect hsdpa once but not again as of this writing)
The newer firmware as what other users have said is experiencing total mobile disconnections.
Please help me.
