I think it's to just shorten ... moreResearching this, it's not 100% agreed what happens, but the nett result is that swiped applications are generally closed, and memory/resources released - but not necessarily for any great benefit (with well behaved applications anyway!) for the memory management reasons already discussed.

Anyway, you shud reset your phone it will bring ICS settings for you, and yes it shud increase your phone's performance.

Anonymous, 06 Dec 2012how do you close an app? If i hold down the home button, al... moreThey are not the running apps. They show you the recent apps you have used. If you are using ICS just check the box "destroy every activity'. This will close the apps as you leave them after using.
