i have bought this phone 2days ago. its now Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread). i know how to upgrade this phone to v4.0 but when i connect to pc it shows that the phone has already latest version installed. can anyone please tell me what to do? how can i upgrade?

Just picked up my U yesterday! It is an amazing phone considering its price. Camera is great, led light is an eyecatching feature giving the phone a elegant look. I havent experience any problems so far. @prestonm13 if you have any questions

hello guys,
i got the ics update yesterday and installed it (pc companion)...
review:ics pinned with sony custom skin is awesome!
almost no lags at all..lagging occurs when u open lot of apps .once u close it fone becomes really smooth..ram gets low very fast :(
software is really nice!!
gallery has been replaced by album which shows all the pics u ve taken in a month all together
swipe right the pics cluster together
move left nd individual pics start becoming more and more visible....
i gotta say about the camera..
sadly thers no 16:3 for 5 mp
but the image quality has increased!!
720 p video rec was worse in gb but now its really good..
less grains nd alomst noo black squares
the camera has improved a lot :)
music player has been repaced by sony walkman
its beautiful..ther is a visualisation option and it is stunningly beautiful :D
ui is smoother than gb and u get all the privilages of ics as well as some bonus stuff from sony
in contacts you can now create seperate groups ..it was not there is gb
task manager works well
notification tab is a beauty
browser was good in gb now its excellent
...google chrome got installed when i upgraded...
the sound has increased thankfully
not a huge jump..just a small bit..
its louder (with xloud) but there is some kind of a light distortion..it was ther is gb as well ..
n u get an app called the perfomance assistant and it gives suggestions on how to improve the perfomance...its good actually..
games r running smoothly...much more smoother than gb
ther is no screenshot option in the power menu now :(..
i findics really good than gb..
ram gets full very fast and then the fone lags
once u clear everything away from task manager
it gets smooth..one more thing ..u cant turn off the notification lights.its not a problem as screen filter from palystore can turn it off ..ive seen opininos station that ics is crap n laggy..
i havnt faced any problems till now n im really happy with the ics upgrade..

Hello, everyone. I would like to purchase this phone but unfortunately there is a fork in the road - Sony Xperia U or LG Optimus Black? I would really appreciate any help regarding pros/cons on both.

as it shows onl... moreMy dear friend... my Xperia U shows 388 MB RAM - rest of the memory have been used for system which is hidden...so its okey with u....if u have not upgrade ur phone to ICS then go for it...u will find the excellent battery back up and good operating system....and browsing speed is not slow ok --- pls try some another network provider....because it totally depends upon ur network speed....it is having 1Ghz Dual core processor so don't think negative about speed.
Pls upgrade it to ICS........and feel the better operating features with Xperia U
Its amazing phone....yes sometimes it hang up but it is because I use to many applications at one time..then its processor capacity....so dont worry at all and go for it....Sony Xperia U is equivalent to iphone 4 with only 14.5k RS....amazing phone....

guys whats the actual user available RAM??
as it shows only 368MB as compared to the 512 MB mentioned on the box.
is the rest utilised by the UI and operating system???
and why is the browsing speed slow???
also how do I access free cloud storage??
help will be highly appreciated??

btw its an awesome phone except for the battery back up which is a little short, 1500 mAh would have been ideal.

[deleted post]i m also in d same way confusd about the budget xperias like the u,sola,neo l,and j. But i hav decided 2 go for the xperia u. Just 2 solve d memory problem, i will also buy a usb otg along with d handset an keep a seperate pendrive for d storage of music and video files.only keep the apps and games onboard.

Really an awesome phone with most of all Specifications in it, with a resonable price. Really a good camera and battery backup.

I updated my xperia u to ics one month ago & i am happy with it but still android 2.3 is more stable compared to ics thanks.

i bought xpria u yes its super phne with excelent display.i update to ics.
Go to sony mobile india website and go to software menu and dwnload
sonyupdate device and remaining it will tell.go enjy
