Haven't quite worked out the logic yet, but it typically comes on for a few seconds after doing certain things, then fades out. It's surprisingly unobtrusive - I wasn't sure how I'd get on with it, but it's not proving an annoyance at all to me.

btw howz the battery life...?? a... morei played dead trigger and the battery got almost 30% used
while watching video(full brightness) 20min video took 6% battery
but it drains real fast if u use 3g net
in 22hrs of battery use almost 3hrs my screen was on and battery drained from 100% to 26%(i mainly use wifi no 3g)played dead trigger where's my perry temple run:brave and saw a episode of 20 min
but solution to battery issue is to by the 1500mah battery available on net
THOUGHT:
why doesn't sony itself release different battery so a guy while buying the phone decide how much mah he wants????

I got xperia u three days ago. It's awesome and smooth. I only faced a lag when I closed the game temple run and went back to home screen. Apart from that every thing is great and the best part is its internet speed. Though I m on still on 2G yet it is above average and is better than the past experiences. It is great but one problem. When I click a picture in dark then the flash floods the photo and makes the picture extremely white but in good light its great. I played AB and AB space and temple run and fruit ninja and its smooth. The UI is great and the touch is feather soft. I say that if it budget is around 15k then u should go for xperia u. The memory problem is not great as u can connect USB flash drives through USB otg cable. Live tv app of NDTV works fine even on 2G. Audio is bait muffled up which does not go great with Sony phones but it does not matters me a lot.waiting for the ICS upgrade. It looks damn good and the led bar at the bottom is also great. But I have a question..... The available ram in the settings is always between 150 and 250 but not more than 300 Mb which it should be. It sucks a lot of data even on 2G Which does tell about its speed.....
All in all a great phone and must go for it........... :)

Averall is good for the gadget in the price range.
Main disappointments:
1. EARPHONE is not loud enough, especially in the noisy environment, like in the bus, in the train, or when we stand near road and receiving call, very hard to listen the client's voice.
2. The vibration is very weak also. Many times I missed some calls because in silent mode the phone vibration is very weak, so I did not aware of incoming calls. If you are motorbike rider, you will miss many calls because of this.
Consider that 2 disadvantages if you wanna buy this gadget.

Damien, 11 Jul 2012m a Sony fan...i owned few of them & i want to buy a ne... moreIt's a larger battery than many phones at this pocket size. I get 2 to 3 days between charges, though I am careful with not leaving apps running, turning off Bluetooth, GPS etc when not needed and so on.
