Trying to replace a Z3 Compact and want another "small" phone, budget is €200-300 for a sim free hand set (my carrier isn't stocking the XZ1 or XZ2 Compacts).

How does this phone compare to the Z5 Compact even though they're both a few years old or any other alternative people may have? Would prefer a decent camera if possible.

Thanks

Coming from a Samsung phone I have to say I am HORRIFIED at how bad the Sony is. The software is terrible. The phone looks nice but the software! Utter crap. The home screen/launcher, the phone dialler, even the stock weather app are clunky, ugly and archaic. It's shockingly bad. I regret buying it and I'm going to sell mine on ebay.

Macbeth, 01 Apr 2018"Compact" but it's just 0.1" smaller than the 4.7" iPhone 8.The screen is only 0.1 inch less but it is 10mm shorter as well as a mm or two narrower. So yes, it is more compact than the iPhone for about the same screen size.
The new XZ2 Compact is bloated in comparison, I don't know what they were thinking. Bigger, much heavier, no headphone jack.

"Compact" but it's just 0.1" smaller than the 4.7" iPhone 8.

The xc has radio while xz1 doesn’t in case it matters to someone.in rest they are twins. Someone should split the tie on parts like camera, sound, performance, because xz1 is lot more expensive

regarding rumours about secret water resistance i can add that i accidentally dropped mine in a sink filled with water and it hasn't affected the health of it.

I don'... moreI finally got Oreo couple of days ago and right after that got new security update also:) Very happy with Oreo but like many said, there isn't that much difference between Nougat skin and Oreo skin on Xperia phones.

Have anyone got Oreo in Europe as an OTA update yet? I don't mean you have updated using Xperia Companion or other manual updating procedures. Mine still says up to date! My variant is F5321.

                                  Got Oreo Update!

Great Job by Sony. I never expect Android Oreo on a 2016 phone. But Sony is really caring their customers.

Just updated with the help of this tutorial: https://droidfeats.com/update-xperia-x-compact-variant-android-8-0-oreo-official-firmware/

i get 7 hours screen on time after oreo update and still have %10 battery (no gaming, using mostly social media, internet browsing with wi-fi / 3g , and making 1-1,5 hours phone call during the day)

oreo is stable, fast and no lagging. i'm pleased with this phone
