(basically still almost IDR 10 million if converted from NTD 23,900, as comparison, S7 is now around IDR 8.5 million. If on Europe's level price, it'll be around IDR 12 million)

so, LDAC could generate better sound quality on bluetooth headphones? What about normal headphones with wire?

      DAC stands for Digital to Analog Converter. It's chip that EVERY smartphone (etc other players) has for playing music. It converts the digital signal into analog sound. The quality of DAC in MOST smartphones is just "ok" compared to more pricier amp/DAC devices, like my Oppo HA-2 ( https://www.oppodigital.com/headphone-amplifier-ha-2/ ) for example. Its DAC is MUCH more advanced than what most smartphone devices can do.

      LDAC is Sony's PROPRIETARY codec (stands for Lossless DAC, meaning no loss of original quality of sound/music) which is used for wireless bluetooth listening. If you have an LDAC-ready phone like the XP or device like the Walkman A17, and LDAC-ready headphones like the MDR-1ABT or any of their LDAC-ready speakers, then what LDAC does is it can transmit THREE times the regular amount of data wirelessly than regular bluetooth can handle.

                    Instead going much cheaper and portfolio massive to compete with chinese, they decided to go less portfolio, retaining their prices, knowing sales would drop either way, but increasing profitability...

                    Guess they had a 10 year scenario assesment of the market or sth, and concluded that chinese would take over most market, they are too competitive with their prices.
                    So going more exclusive is the way they see it.

                    Either way, in worst case scenario they certainly wont close the buissness, but maybe remain on certain markets only.

                      If there is any intention to give 4k to X and X perf. in future as a camera addon app, Cinema 4k should work too...
                      Tech and software is in there...

                      If not, xda developers will do it, just like 4k for my z1c

                      Either way, its not important to most users, as mos5 dont even use 4k, but full hd while recording.
                      And with h.265 it means half the megabyte consumption for each videorecord....

                        Interesting assessment. I couldn't agree more with everything you said!

                        I think this IS good news, but this delay in releasing the XP to me is beyond stupid IMO because they're literally POSTPONING their profits because of it, if not losing some as well. People will get frustrated (as I have lol) and many will (or have already) look elsewhere. I would seriously go and by the HTC 10 TOMORROW if Sony didn't exist, especially now that I found out the home button is actually a VIRTUAL button, NOT a physical button (doesn't press in), which I hate. lol It shares many attributes of the Xperia phone, and I'm happy HTC basically got IT right finally. But I still love Sony more, despite how INSANELY STUPID their marketing & sales ppl are (I like to say that as often as I can lol).

                        Yes I'd like to know where they're looking to go next. If it's a phablet though (which I bet it will be), then the XP is where I stop. I have NO interest in phablets, so the XP is exactly what I'm looking for. It doesn't sit well with me though that the X's May 20th release has already been delayed TWICE now (June 4th is the new set date). They BETTER NOT pull this sh*t with the XP. Deciding to release the XP LAST was super dumb too. The flagship should ALWAYS come first! I would bet my life that they've already lost some of the potential profits on this phone by not releasing it yet. I'm a hardcore Sony fan, and even I'M starting to lose it. lol

Less product variant means less different parts, so we could expect improvement on their service. If X Performance is great, then we could tell Sony is getting ready to back to the game, since there will be other X series on the future. Then again, other competitors like Samsung will have Note 6, OnePlus will have OnePlus 3, Asus will have Zenfone 3, and many other vendors will likely still launch some other new phones this year so it'll be a hard fight. But X series is like a reset button, we could assess X series's growth better if we knew the next X series.

                          Their decreasing in sales yet rising in operating profit (especially from minus to plus as in the graph), could be translated as a good news (asymmetric information) for shareholders, at least for now. If this graph keep going like this, the operating profit would stop growing since less sales revenue on each year, thus the importance of X series to uphold Sony's name on smartphone business. On a simple term, right now Sony has been on defending position, and want to retaliate using X series to back to attacking position.

                              Like your immune system has the potential to protect you against virus and bacteria, but most of the time, you still could get cold and infection when you are exposed to them.

                              The phone might have the hardware, but it could be the fact that it could not do 4K.

                                    Yeah I had the Z3 and the speakers were FANTASTIC! Arguably better than the HTC One M8's or M9's, and those are really great too! (Haven't listened to the HTC 10's yet, and I'm still not happy they moved one of the front-facing speakers to the bottom)

                                    I'm pretty sure it was a review unit that was used by GSM Arena for the other Anonymous' review quotes............I think either Team and/or Tann posted links to pics on here (see recent posts, or link below for main one) that were TAKEN BY the XP, and we ALL agreed they outdid the HTC 10's and EVEN the S7's!! Therefore, even without OIS, Sony is now the NEW CHAMPION of smartphone cameras!!!!!!!! :-D!! And those were taken on an XP that did NOT have final release camera software on it, so the actual XP's pics will look even better!!!
