That's awesome, and I believe you are sure of it too, but the problem is why isn't Sony advertising it?! Most ppl (including me) have no idea what HVAC.265 means, but everyone knows 4K. lol If Sony wants to charge "flagship prices" on the XP, then I would think they'd want to bring attention to EACH & EVERY flagshippish detail, including 4K recording.

            Other flags do not have it.

            Means it can record and run 4k video natively, and at half the mb consumption as to h.264 devices
            Means you can just download and use any 4k video recording app from playstore....

            Or Sonys 4k app will be downloadable to camera api, even if not 8n initial software package.

                      I am sure it will have 4k video recording. At MWC, the software for XP was the same with the X. Thats why people didnt find 4K video rec. The wernt well prepared. They even didnt have fingerprint APP and Clear cover APP installed. LOL. I am serious, the representative said 'APP'.

                        I just don't get why Sony isn't mentioning it on the specs pages of the U.S. or Int'l versions of the XP if they plan on including it?

                          And the guy states that the model he has is the prototype version, which means there are many improved and added features to the phone. The demo version of the X series on MWC are the initial and very unfinished software, that's why it doesn't have 4K recording capability.

                            hey guys, why name this one performance.... the rest I guess are underperforming boxes?!! sorry don't want to sound like a SONY hater or troll, but I have owned at least for different SONY handsets in the past ten years. My first one was t230 my last one xperia Z. How's I miss those Sony Ericsson days.....It is sad but I can no longer bring myself to buy a SONY handset. they've just lost it, just look at their designs guys, even Apple has changed,but not SONY...... xperia high end phones have the same boring design since the original Z. with little tweaks. Samsung does the same agreed, but I never thought one day one could compare SONY to Sammy. And he'll, S6 S7 edge are at least something new. All SONY phones are way overpriced. If it's durability you're talking about, both my xperia Z and L are in very poor condition! anyway given SONY's software upgrade support, you'll change it in max 2yrs.And let's say you have different experience with SONY, but you can't deny the following problems with all SONY phones:
                            1. overpriced
                            2. except flagship, all phones have slightly dated innards, always
                            3. Updates? what's that? that's only for the high enders.....or wait,wait&wait......
                            4.Camera...... all SONY phones have excellent cameras...wait! ONLY ON PAPER!!!! somehow they can't make the camer software algorithm right. photos will look good only on your mobile, that's it. on a PC ...... they are average at most. give are the days of SonyEricsson cybershot. now the pic quality is bad.... too much noise, white balance off, bad low light..... I now own a Moto X play....... for half the price of an XA and the camera is arguably the best there is. period.
                            5.Battery is never enough to keep the juice running, except in one or two xperia. always underpowered,and covered with software gimmicks.....why not just give a bigger battery?

                            My point is if you're asking so much money at least give people something exclusive, apart from looks..... this XA they have brought out,at least give it a fingerprint reader for godsake.... even the new Moto G4 has one again for half its price. No wonder, the company's going downhill. At this rate the end is near. Wish they never broke up with Ericsson........I sound like a very disappointed ex...... but I really am :-(

                              Where did you find this out Name? I've read a lot of mixed info on this, so I have to ask what your source is? Even in this thread I've seen mixed info. Let us know please. Include a link too if possible. It's not really a big deal to me, but I'd still prefer the phone had more of what the people want or expect of a 2016 flagship.

                                Yeah the guy was a good friend but he was also selfish. Just thought about himself. So instead of being cool, because I wasn't gonna let him have his way all the time, he stopped taking my calls. Same BS happened a few years before, and he'd apologized for it, then did it again. So yeah, done. Anyway, that's all in the past.

                                Yeah that's a nice case too.

                                  Just a correction. The final verdict of the X Performance can record up to 4K resolution. The demo phones at MWC are just having the initial software. Probably the final product that will be released will have some more features (I guess they would also make the X and XA water and dust resistant)
