Ignore those pedantic nerds, this is a great phone, aesthetically a delight. Bit more sophisticated than most phones, definitely give it a try.

terrible phone. sony should be ashamed of themselves.
-camera takes upwards of 5 seconds to take a photo. this issue persisted after a factory reset.
-touchscreen is extremely inaccurate, also has no palm detection
-requires special software to download files from the phone onto the computer, software crashes if you download too many files at once (more than say 30)
-audio is very tinny
-camera only lets you take extraordinarily large photos, which are all 8+MB!!! on a 16gb phone this is really silly.
-stopped getting software updates only 4 months after buying a 12 month lock in plan for the phone
-not waterproof, unlike every single other xperia phone sold. why?
-new software suite, unlike old xperia software suite where everything was open source and could be easily configured, this one locks the user into a bunch of poorly made unremovable bloatware and all the stock apps are of inferior quality to how they used to be

Dont Buy!!! Trust me. Under guarantee they change touch screen 2 times in two years. And again same problem. Yellow bars across the screen and cancel function. I just smashed it off the wall. And i am not the only one with that problem. Using xperia since 2009, just xperia, loved them. But now.... No more Sony, sorry.

XA1 is a very good phone, doing what it supposed to do, having some good sound even with the original headphones which are not great, it's a phone that you can count on. No reason not to be buyed by a person who needs a good phone.

For those having WiFi connection issues (random disconnections or dropping even when connected), I was able to resolve mine by turning off Developer Mode.
I just hope it stays this way.lol

I am a happy user of Sony Xperia XA1. It is very fast, very good sound quality and no issues regarding touch screen at all. People who complain just does not know how to use a mobile phone properly.

Having same touchscreen issues left and right edges. Most UI elements for basic navigation and buttons are commonly top right/left corners or on the edges. So this can make something simple like typing a message or pressing send/home etc difficult. I use the Google keyboard and made the key sizes large so that helps but it's not perfect. Also going into landscape mode can help access buttons but it's not practical to keep tilting the phone.
I don't recommend this phone for this reason.

Sony has very hard phone screen until the screen doesn’t work. you can drop so many times but the screen isn’t smashed. but the screen doesn’t work and u change the LCD the problem will start. The LCD comes for the sony phones are not as great as original. you have to fix so many time if your lcd has been smashed. Pleas be aware of LCDs when you decide to buy sony phones

Customer, 12 Nov 2019Design is good...has good finish thanks to the aluminium fr... moreit can be fixed if it caused after oreo update. Just flash 7.0 stock firmware on it. You may need to backup your drm key if you want to unlock bootloader. it worked for me too

Design is good...has good finish thanks to the aluminium frame. Problem with touch screen started at right edge and progressed to all 4 sides. The touch issue started after 1 year of purchase. Believe it or not i used to play pubg in this phone. Although the graphics settings were low and stuttered at times, I could manage to play the game. During the last days of the phone, left and right edges of screen started displaying burned marks. Also during this time, when phone is plugged in for charging, I could feel tingling sensation when I touched the aluminium frame, which was due to the current leakage
