For me, the camera matters a lot and the XA2 has more potential with its 23MP rear camera. Even though some reviews say it's not the greatest with the camera, they seem to be comparing it to flagship phones and since the lenses themselves have a high capability, once a software update for the camera comes out it's likely to improve. The Nokia 6.1 has only a 12MP rear camera and, while that is a perfectly decent camera, software updates aren't going to be improving it by much.
The Nokia 6.1 has Android One, meaning it's first in line for software updates so if that's important to you maybe consider the Nokia. Sony's XA2 does have Android 8.0 Oreo right now and it has been added to the list to receive Pie in early 2019, so I don't think there's a huge difference in the OS but it's something to consider if you plan on using the phone for a long time.
Aside from that, I've read mixed reviews about the sound quality and current camera capability of both. I'm personally going with the Xperia XA2 because the camera is very important to me, and also because I think it looks nicer and the smaller size is preferable since I have small hands.
I've also read in most reviews that Sony apps are pretty decent! I don't know yet if I'll feel the same but I'm giving it a shot.

It is a great phone, the battery is very much, much like the P20 PRO, so the battery is premium. Premium and finishing, just a little thicker.
The only problem is the recognition of a foreign handsfree pair, that is, any model other than Sony, the problem being to recognize the microphone by the phone. It's a trick to Sony, the same problem we had on Xperia X, just that there we solved by turning to andorid 7.1.1. So I hope to solve the problem with rejecting the microphone to other models of handsfree (I use akg) on the next update or Android 9.0.
If anyone has any idea if they will fix it on update or 9.0 post here.

I have XA2 but i don't have problems with the battery. I tested the phone in Youtube playing 4k in 60fps for very long time and it works perfectly. I didn't sense any overheating or smth like that.

asf, 22 Oct 2018i bough this device a month a go..verry nice and i love it ... moreI had that issue with my Z3C heating up and battery draining very quickly. Usually a reboot fixed it. Also watch your browser apps.

Also, avoid using your phone while charging. it may cause damage to the battery.

Shusho, 13 Oct 2018XA2 or J7 pro help please The j7 pro have a bit bigger display and a bigger baterry and a better front cam,but in the rest the XA2 is much better: better perfomance in cpu (2.2ghz vs 1.6ghz) and gpu (adreno 508 vs mali-T830mp1(mp1=one core)), better sound (24 bits), bluetooth 5.0, usb type c with quick charge 3.0. If the difference in the price is not much, go ahead with the XA2.
