Still a great phone, I'm especially pleased how well the battery health has held up after daily use for more than 2 years, but I advise against buying it new because the security upgrade situation does not look great. Sony might have dropped this phone completely from its upgrade schedule; 7 months since the last security patch is becoming unacceptable if for example you have banking or trading apps on it. If it goes another 6-9 months without support, I'll have to get rid of it. Sucks that Sony fails at communicating which devices have been dropped.
On the other hand, if you can afford to install an alternate Android distro or Sailfish you'll be very happy with the hardware for a long time. Not an option for me unfortunately because apps I need to use won't work on non-OEM builds of Android.

I'm wondering if it will ever get an Android 10 update since it has the same chipset as the 10 & 10 plus. I'm planning on upgrading my phone if Sony decides not to update the Xa2, which wouldn't make sense if they don't plan to.

This phone is really good and fast enough for its price. However when it gets updated to android 9 time to time you will present kick out for any Window or app that you are working on it at the moment. So highly recommen this device but I would appreciate that fix the bug present in android 9.

Vmwenz , 08 Jan 2020It's not supporting 4g lite in Zambia whyFrom Zambia's list of networks, I am guessing the XA2 will work best for Airtel. Some XA2 types may work for MTN and fewer for the others.
Please try it. I will like to know as well.

One more thing, after the last firmware update, the fingerprint sensor is working much better. Before, it worked one time out of ten, now it always works!

Still love this phone after one year of ownership. Okay, it's heavier and larger than my previous Xperia Z3 Compact, but that also has advantages. What I experienced after the January update (50.2.A.3.22), was that the GPS didn't work anymore. It took half a day before it suddenly worked again. The same happened now with system update 50.2.A.3.55. Now, it took 2 full days before the GPS worked again. Strange. But apart from that, I'm very happy with this smartphone.

I simply love this phone. Though mine couldn't make calls, but its internet is super. Unfortunately, the screen got cracked, I have been looking for where to repair to no avail. I miss my Sony xa2

I'm sad man!
I've had my xperia xa2 for almost 2 years now, and it just stopped recognizing SIM cards... what a shame. I don't know what else to do to fix this problem, it was working really well, up until this happened.

After the update the phone could get overwhelmed just by looking at older photos and then wouldn't work any more for a few hours. Without thumbnails the apps wouldn't even open (processor was really really slow). Somehow messenger and internet browser weren't affected

Asf P, 21 May 2020For XA2 users who have been update to 3.5.5...share..It shows me I have it updated to the latest version. The last update made the phone so laggy that I bought a new device(huawei p30). If there was an update after 15th May then I haven't tested it yet.
