A couple of years ago I checked the camera of my cousin's Xperia z2, at that time I was shocked of the bad quality of the pictures, But again this happened to me recently with Xperia XZ, amateur quality of pictures, the XZ's camera is not very different of the Z2's.
ACTUALLY I AM AGAIN DISAPPOINTED IN SONY, BAD CAMERA, BAD SOUND, BAD BATTERY LIFE ESPECIALLY AFTER THE 7.1.1 UPDATE, BAD CONTEXT MENUS, CHILDISH VIDEO AND AUDIO HANDLING, I couldn't find, eg, a catchy notification sound for WHATSAPP. Nearly all the sounds are fluttery and bloated, yet not catchy.
I had an LG flex 2, its dispkay is ways better than the XZ's.
LG is better than Sony especially cameras and display.
And what adds salt to injury is the stupid preinstalled apps like AVG and Swiftkey, and they cannot be uninstalled.
As I regret my choice of the XZ, I would try the XZs for free as a compensation.

nawab, 02 May 2017S7 or xz confuse which to buy The S7 of course. I was in the exact same dillemma as you a couple of months ago. I was choosing between the S7 and XZ but the XZ was pricier at the time so I went with the S7 instead and I realized it's so much worth it. S7 is better than the XZ in just about every aspect, from the screen, camera, processor, RAM to the design, compactness, battery life and software features. You're getting more value for money in the S7. S7 is an advanced smartphone that even after 1 year it still matches and even beats current flagships like XZs, P10 and G6. The only thing better than the S7 is the S8 and the S8 is only a minor upgrade from the S7.

Gino76, 03 May 2017I can agree. There was a short docu from Android Authority ... moreIts a feature that android lacking but if google committed in the android multitasking capability it may be sooner or later we see similar implementation in android

I don't even do 4K video recirding and I have set the camera MP down to a minimum of 8MP (16:9) or 20MP (16:9).
But I have sold the Z5 and will be posting it in the next 24 hours. My next target is the XZ. My only concern on the XZ is apparently the speakers sounds a bit weaker than the Z5. True?

If the XZ has better optimisations and better battery life than say iPhone 6S (or 6S Plus) as it stands with their new software (Nougat 7.1.1 now on XZ & iOS 10.3 on the iPhones) then this is the path i'll go. Comment?

There was a short docu from Android Authority explaining that iOS may use the same (sometimes) smaller memory to run/load apps than Android but again Apple has a workaround (a secret software algorythm) that creats a cached version of the app and loads it instantly.
I wish Android was like that as well.

Is there any reason why Sony has agressive throtlling on their SD processors?

Re my Z5 I noticed "most of the times" the apps was cached and seem to load almost instantly. But is the XZ better in terms of minimal throttling and speedier app reload?

it was problem with overheating on z3+ and maybe on z5 but thats chipset fault

and there is big difference between heating up and overheating and most people dosent know it
if phone is hot and work normaly its not OVERHEATEEED
and even if it lag a bit when you go out of game still it dosent mean it overheated
i have xz now, before i had z3 and only overheating problem where with cam
z3+ did overheat, and maybe z5 but probably only if you realy pus here, becouse z5 have 2 heatsinks

and i depends on devlopers, they can make apps to work perfect for some phone while for some not

The advantage of ios here is they had some software workaround that shrink the used space of an app rather than closing them when space is needed to launch a new app
I don't know what's this called neither how the algorithm works, because apple keep this software technology secret from others

The problem is people make fuss of the z5 heating despite people know that sd810 is to blame not sony
Futhurmore, sony tight overheating control doesn't help either, thus never use sony will bash it alot
About optimisation, sony had one of the best optimisation, they crank a 3 gb of ram to let 2 game run without reloading it as shown in. XA1 multitasking, and notice the speed of web browsing, its fast, people can argue about cache but seriously in average consumers point, they didn't even know what cache is so, a good phone must have a good cahching right? For app they can open fast and sometimes faster that ufs 2.1 equipped samsung despite the inferior eMMc 5.1 storage

                                Hi guys,
i bought xperia xz yesterday and i updated the phone to nougat 7.1.1 and everything is fine except : - the ringtone voice is very low
                                - the alarm voice is very low
any one face those problems and is it hardware issue or software issue.

Though they made strides with Grace UX (formerly Touchwiz). Problem with Sony I think (especially with my other thread of battery life issues) is they have near stock but overheating and optimization has always been the issue with their software.

Does this mean that Android OS/apps uses a bit more RAM hence Android phones normally have double the RAM? And that iOS is so optimized that they don't need much RAM on their devices?

Gino76, 30 Apr 2017But iPhone's OS is nornally optimised well (with only 2GB f... moreios had good optimisation, true that
Also, take note that app developer also optimese their app better on ios than android cause ios only had handful of device while android, massive count of device with different spec, processor, etc, so it easier for developer to optimese their app on iOS
So in case of smartphone i choose Sony not just for good software but also it reliability in the long run(had z1, still running smoothly, just the sign of battery aging) also they has start using ufs memory and there's rumour which sony will use oled develop by JOLED(former JDI)
I'm not choosing Samsung because I'm a hater, I interested in samsung but i already had bad experiences with their device(mini2, grand 2, tab s2, s6, j5(2016)) all suffer lag and talking about samsung feature, i use the only in first month and completely abandoned it(the feature) the month after

Gino76, 28 Apr 2017A lesson on RAM management on Android would be appreciated. ok,i hope you will understand me,becouse i a bit bad when it come to exaplining something
so ram is basicly memory which app or OS uses so i could work.
OS uses ram, apps that run in backaround (like facebook, its like small part of app works all the time,so you can get notification etc..) apps and games that you open and use and there are all so chached processes
all of these use some amount of ram memory
and now lets imagine we have 3 gb or ram, OS takes 1 gb, app that run in backaround 500 mb, and 500 mb for chached processes and we are left with 1 gb of ram free.
and now we open 3 apps that need 300 mb or ram
these 3 app will be how can i say active, opened, you can go from one to another without reloading. but if we open one more app that need 300 mb or ram, phone will turn off one or more if is needed apps that are all ready opened so he can make space for that last app we used. and thats basicly how ram managment works, but id dosent have to be like that, and examle is first marshmallow software for xperia z3, it was enough free ram for 10,15 app but ram managment was set to keep like 5 app opened, idk reason for that, maybe is battery like of something like that..
important thing to know is amount of app that will stay opened depend on free ram space and amount of free ram need for app to work, and if you have lot of app that run in backaround all the time, that will eat free ram space,so multitaking will be worse
now lets imagine another one scenario,we have again 3 gb or ram,1 gb is for OS, and 1 gb for apps that run in backaround and chached processes, and we want to play game that need 1,5 gb or ram (which btw dosent exist far as i know) then phone will turn off apps that run in backaround so app can write it self in ram and when you close game phone will turn on again apps that where turn off-at least sonys ram managment works this way i know form xperia l,that phone had only 1 gb or ram, idk did tey change that
i think this is correct, if somebody know more about it comment
and i hope you understan what im saying
