Like I said earlier, motion blur will always be an issue in all but direct sunlight especially where kids are involved.

But the 'launch-focus-shoot-process-view' sequence is overall faster on the S7 than the XZ, and the S7 will burst shoot 100 frames in around 10 seconds, i always found that there was least one keeper in among those when I had that device

What in your opinion is the fastest focusing camera? I would like to buy a camera phone with the fastest auto focusiing possible without blurring images..My kid is super fast.. :)

Wish they would rethink their camera approach though. Cramming all those pixels onto what is still ultimately a small sensor introduces more issues than benefits. If they dropped to 12-16mp range, introduced OIS (mainly for stills) I think you would see a vast improvement.

And yes the speakers could be just a bit louder :)

Carrie, 14 Jan 2017So which phone you are using.is it perfect? Do you personal... moreI never have just one phone, but currently my main device is the XZ.

No it isn't perfect, that doesn't and never will exist.

Overall I like it a lot, and am not regretting the choice, I was drawn to it in the end by Sony's new commitment to improved software support and perhaps bought the device with somewhat low expectations due to past disappointment with Xperia's.

Have been pleasantly surprised so far however. In my opinion this device has only one real weakness, the camera. Again, that's my opinion, and it's mostly because my own personal use case tends to play towards all the weak areas of this camera set up.

I tend to be taking mostly impromptu quick shots of my young children, they don't stay still so you have to be quick. Whilst the XZ is fast to launch and focus the camera, there is still a good degree of motion blur present in many of the shots I get. There is no longer a burst mode in the Xperia camera software (it seemed to disappear with the Marshmallow builts of the Xperia software) and as there is a delay in the processing of the finished jpeg, shot to shot time is slow, too slow.

To be fair, motion blur is an isssue in all smartphone cameras in less than perfect conditions, but the likes of the iPhone and S7 (and to a lesser extend the G5) have really fast burst modes that do help.

Because I have gotten more shots that I have had to delete from the XZ than I did from those others devices in similar situations and because I'm still seeing far more noise in the shots (to the extent that it negates the advantage of the increased detail offered by the 23mp resolution) that I would like, I personally cannot say I'm happy with the camera.

So if there is one regret and disappointment, it's that. In all other areas this device is the real deal.

Screen on front with capactive buttons with selfie camera. Buttons on the sides. Camera and flash on the back, right ?????

Thats the same as every other phone...Whats to get excited about that ? You can have a personal choice of colours, like any other brand of phone...Whats to get excited about that ?

How about a pure gold Rolex watch ? Thats excitment ! A very special item. A $600 phone is nothing, anybody can buy that....nothing special, nothing to brag about, does the same as any other recent phone... Surely, you have more in your life that just a phone to brag about ?

AnonD-608546, 14 Jan 2017No need lot's of examples to explain Sony's high standards,... moreSony have stuck to their own design language true, and I commend them for sticking to their guns.

That doesn't mean though that I believe that design language to be perfect, it has pro's and cons like everything thing else and it's not my favourite design personally (am speaking though of ergonomics, not materials).

I'd explain why, but that would just be taken as hating and trolling and some kind of grudge or other such childish nonsense......so let's just leave it there.

I paid almost £500 for this thing, good design and quality is expected!!!!!! So it doesn't come as a surprise to me.

The day I pay £150 for a device and its as well built as the XZ, then you may see me commenting enthusiastically on it.

In both cases, I wouldn't mind if they didn't bother and stuck with their current display tech, the screen on this XZ is amazing, might even be the best mobile LCD based panel I've seen (including the ip7), and is easily as good as any amoled in my opinion.

Oh and pssst.....I just gave the XZ some more praise, but don't tell the fanboys, it only seems to confuse them ;)

Seems Sony phones will finally change over to OLED in 2107. Battery life is finally good with XZ. Maybe increase speaker volume and improve low light photography. Change their camera sensor to IMX290/1. Remove the usless camera button. Move volume rocker up higher. Increase screen resolution.
