I bought this phone in January 2018 and still currently using it. Good memories with this phone. I've dropped it so many times from about 3-4 feet and the screen never broke regardless of falling face down or corner drops. I even lost it at a pool party and went looking for it the next day only to find it at the bottom of my friends pool face down with 8% battery left. I'd post a picture of how banged up the corners are but trust me when I say this phone has some sharp edges. I pre-ordered the Xperia 1 ii and will be giving my current phone to my son after I file down the corners of the phone.
Hope to be impress again by the Sony Xperia 1 ii

What was a logical choice for me coming from the Excellent last symbian phone, nokia pureview 808. i knew the camera would be different but mostly not as good, more efficient.
For my first android phone, well, it was good, close to the symbian personalization , even the virbate while typing was good. Everything was close to my nokia experience, with all the power i missed. As a ipad user, this was my powerapp companion along side my nokia with the router wifi mode.
Everything was perfect with this phone, another 5 great years to come...
Then problem arrived one after the other.
firstly and no less, i loose totally the GPS signal while i really need it.
well few falls in motorcycle may not helped, but neverless, it was a rare bug.
Secondly, instagram is a nightmare, as an active user, it bugs every damn new post or story, i have to force quit or freeze when i put a location for exemple... i getting used too but still
third, one of the two speaker didn't like a small quick wash with water. it never recover then know it's hard to heard call from outside.
fourth , a nasty early bug. The microphone gone silent time to time without any will. so i have to double tap silence microphone to have again voice.
This phone was a power house long battery life interesting phone and shape. But all that bugs combined make the good inital feeling less than mixed, it getting annoying to have such a buggy experience. As an all time ipad fan, i'm switching to apple, i would have all my paid apps anyway and i like it because of it's stability.

After two years of use I am still 100% happy. Just cannot comprehend why Sony is no longer available in South Africa?

I had this phone for few months.
Suddenly people started hearing me double on call.
It made it impossible to use the phone...
was very dissapointing
additionally, the 3.5mm headphone jack started doing trouble, not detecting when I was putting headset. Sometimes randomly switching back to speakers even when headset connected.
Since then I never buy any Sony products.

Since mid 2018 I have this Xperia XZ1 Compact ... I must say that I am extremely and completely satisfied with it 🤗. This year I bought a Xiaomi MI 9T just to get into fashion and new technologies that the XZ1c does not have (Amoled screen, triple photo sensor, more Gb, big screen and more) But it turn'out turn'out that I can't do without the XZ1c despite it being exceeded, thanks to its small size, its reliability and its solidity over time and above all its design many people don't like this but I dont care, I really like the design of this smartphone it is very classy, sober and exudes robustesse, it's unique. Maybe I can not boast of the merits of this smartphone but if Sony made the same Xperia XZ1 Compact but with an Oled screen, an S865 or 765 and a new photo sensor because there are only these features that are in withdrawal today then I would be taker with my eyes closed.
For me it's the best smartphone i never got

I have had this phone since 2017, main reason I purchased it was because of its size. While it has all the bells and whistles with interesting features, it has been a sequence of headaches - for the first 2 years it would randomly restart (sometimes looping restarting in sequence many, many times) - finally a system update reduced the frequency with which that happens. The phone constantly has low memory regardless of how much I remove from it (lots of built in apps), and finally in the last few weeks it has stopped notifying me entirely of messages (SMS, facebook messenger, whatsapp) - even when using whatsapp web. Very disappointed with the phone given its cost and would not recommend it. Will not be buying another sony xperia any time soon.

Vic, 15 Mar 2020 Is it unwise to purchase this item in 2020 due to no serv... moreSure, but there are no other alternatives. None of the newer phones fit in a pocket. The best phone is the one You can actually carry with You. Whats the point buying newer phone and leaving it at home becaise it doesn't fit in a pocket? 🤦♂️

It is a great phone. I have bought it a month ago with about 170 USD brand new. Although I have no expectations for the battery, it turns out pretty good and can last about 5-6 SOT per charge. Also, the phone is quite snappy with the Snapdragon 835 packed inside it, which is still better than most 300 dollars phone. Even in 2020, I would easily recommend this phone to anyone who like compact-sized phones.
