I am really missing this phone I started using in Hong Kong. Perfect compact size and excellent flagship performance. The only things are that:
(1) it is NOT well supported here in Australia (can't do WIFI calling)
(2) I find the grip on both sides too slippery, that I prefer using a plastic cover

Been using it for the last 3.5 years. Bought it second hand, and battery still working for 14-20 hours with heavy use. Only the touchscreen has occasionally some issues resolved with pressing along the edges. Anyway, I want to find a replacement as small and compact but with newer flagship features. Does it even exist? I simply can't find a phone as small and fast as this one released in the last 3-4 years. Any suggestions?

Using as my daily phone in 2023. This is best compact phone I've ever had with flagship features. Indeed it's compact flagship phone in year 2018 by Sony.
Everything is top notch and may be I will never switch to large screen size phones.
Easy in hand and pockets and get many compliments from ppl. :)

NeonHD, 24 Feb 2023I know I'm 5 years late, but I just want to say:
1... more... because it is a tiny phone, its motherboard is almost the same size as the screen itself, it is nestled right under the screen with the battery underneath it so it is like a sandwich of the screen, motherboard, and battery, compared to regular-sized labs where the motherboard is not sandwiched but rather placed side to side with the battery. And the tech to make higher-capacity batteries in a small, compact form factor was later developed after this phone's release, I guess.

Coming back to this phone in 2023, I only noticed the AOSP Open Device program for several Sony phones*. It turns out that Sony rolls out Android 12.0 binaries for this phone. If you think about it, Sony can officially roll out a fourth OS update to this phone. I don't mind this AOSP program thing since I used to flash custom ROMs, but most average consumers don't do that kind of thing.
Also, I'm still baffled by this phone's battery endurance rating to this day. It has no right to achieve the exact score as the bigger 5.7" XZ2 that sports a bigger battery capacity. If not for the extra 1.0 mm body thickness, this phone would have a lower score than the XZ2.
