Bought Xperia Z C6603 a mo... morefirst of all, the glass is not scratch proof, it is only scratch resistant. second, the glass has an anti-shatter film (asf) which makes the phone's touch screen still work even if the glass gets cracked or shattered. the asf is not scratch resistant, the glass underneath it is. you're supposed to add a screen protector on top of the asf. I hated the idea as well, that we're supposed to have two plastic protectors to cover a scratch resistant glass but it is what it is. the easiest solution if you're that bothered by the scratches is to just remove the asf. but the sony logo is printed on it so if you remove it you also remove the sony logo and once the asf is removed, the warranty for the glass will be voided.

have had my Xperia Z since August of 2013, its now May 2014, I recently had it in the pool and it finally got a leak at the charging port, and after being in the hot sun for an hour and then applying pressure to the screen it shatter. so note to users keep at room temperature and don't trust the water proofing

Certain devices which were announced by Sony Mobile receiving Android 4.4.2 KitKat in Q2 2014 have been listed as well including Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia M2 and Xperia E1 set for June to July while other Xperia series members Xperia Z, Xperia ZL and Xperia ZR are scheduled for June 2014.

Front is dragontrail glass(new kind of glass that is stronger than gorilla glass) rear is gorilla glass. Chassis is made of glass fibre polyamide.

Scratch proof? I don't think so. Bought Xperia Z C6603 a month and a half ago, been really careful handling the device trying not to drop or scratch it with my car keys or anything. Not an abusive type of mobile phone user. Looking close at the screen, I see thin scratches all over the supposed to be "scratch resistant" screen. I have a Nokia N8, and that I'm sure is scratch proof. Should have gotten a Lumia.

My experience is that locked phones are free or almost free from carriers, so you should not pay more than 50 Euro for S4 LTE+.
Z has some weak points as well, display scratches easily and battery is not great if you use the display too much. Otherwise its still one of the best phones in the world, if you can accept its two shortcomings.
