If you are still on 4.1.2 then your phone is in jeopardy, it will get so hot that over time the back panel will come loose in the top corner near the camera and then your phone is no longer water proof. You have to update to 4.2.2 as soon as you can and hope the damage is not already done.
That said, its normal for powerful phones to become quite hot, or else they would not be faster than cheap low end dual core phones. Also Galaxy S4 had so many complaints about heating up, Samsung listened to the S4 owners and made the phone cooler, but the only way to do it was to reduce the performance, and then they started complaining about lags and low performance instead. It is against the laws of physics to have both high performance and low temperature (a 50cc scooter can be aircooled but a 180hp Yamaha R1 would not last many seconds with such cooling, power=heat, just accept it), this level of performance will produce heat. When we get Intel 16 nanometer chips the temp will go down a bit on a similar performance level but until then you have to accept this tradeoff.

I bought a XPERIA Z from Singapore Mostafa Center on last 01/02/2014. Using this phone I have some bad experience. When I use it over than 30 minitues for voice call or music play or video play; then phones top 1.5" area becomes ver hot. I don't understand why this problem on going my phone. Another is it's batery goes down very fast. Net browing time it goes fastest like usine bolt. I haven't get the upgrade 4.3 in Singapore. Can anybody answer me for this issue??

the battery for my phone drains very very fast, its a brand new phone. I upgraded it to 4.3 still the same.. anyone facing this issue.. how to resolve this

one of lots of things i miss in that phone is when i connect it to lcd i can view what present in micro sd of multimedia now i need to purchacse special cable instead of using ordinary usb cable

I'am also experiencing pushing the power button two to three before it will open. I'am also experiencing shutdown when I open application such as Facebook and other that i installed. are this are normal in JB 4.3? does the heating at the back can cause damage to the phone or not?

I'm Also Experience pressing 2-3 times the power button, I'm Also Experiencing shutting down of the phone while opening Facebook an other application. is this normal? also the heating maybe it can affect the phone Sooner.

i think i did a mistake to bye this expesive unfriendly phone my old nokia 5530 was more helpful even it s slow but more smart in all functions at all

Sony will not repair....
Anyone else experience similar???

Xperia Z’s frame is made from glass fibre polyamide, the same material that’s used as a metal substitute in automobile parts.
Xperia Z on front and back have tempered glass that is a lot stronger than conventional glass, and stronger than Gorilla Glass. This glass is called dragontrail glass.

Both back and front glass is covered by a thin layer of protection for more protection from smashes. Please do not remove such layer.
