advice, 09 May 2013i think u need to read gsmarena reviews of xperia z screen ... morehere comes again mR big advice or THE BIG advice, don't be the follower type where u blindly follow the others reviews, have ur own ideas and choices before u reach what ur nickname suggests i compared my xz screen with the s4 screen and i really found the washed colors that u ppl are accusing the xz tft to produce are 200% better compared to the fancy unrealistic colors that the s4 super ultra smashing hell fang slash amoled produce, its like am watching south park for GOD sake, the calm and natural colors is what i care about, i dont care about how strong the color is, and by the way it does heat like hell specially the octa core model when u lunch a game so stop selling others ideas and come up with ur own

advice, 09 May 2013today i had to chance to play with the galaxy s4 ,i didn't ... moreThe s4 is a joke compared to the xperia z and ANY other high end flagship of ANY other manufacturer. Xperia Z, HTC One, Lumia 920, BB Z10, great phones. Then there's a huge gap......... to the s4. Sorry to say, but the s4 is a mistake from samsung, other companies will increase their sales because of the s4 failure, despite still most users stare blind at cores and samsung ads.

advice, 09 May 2013today i had to chance to play with the galaxy s4 ,i didn't ... more
Air gestures can be inconsistent: Naturally, there’s always some sort of learning curve with anything new. As for myself, I have very little issue waving my hand over the display using its new air gestures to scroll up/down in the stock browser, or move through images in the gallery, but for those who tried it for the first time, they probably thought it’d be more intuitive, which resulted in many inconsistent responses. Personally, I would love to see the feature improved by being able to track my hand moment-by-moment – as opposed to doing a complete air gesture to execute a task. It's like scrolling on a resistive screen versus capacitive one.

You can scroll up/down via air gestures, but not left/right in the browser: This one totally blows my mind! Yes, it’s great that I can eat a footlong sandwich while having the option to scroll up/down in the stock browser without having a crumb hitting it, but what’s preventing them for enabling us to scroll left/right? Oh wait, doing that permits me to move between any opened tabs! To tell you the truth, it would’ve been more useful if they just simply replaced that in favor of scrolling horizontally.

No “pinch air gesture”: We’re certainly still far from seeing that Minority Report like experience with our smartphone UIs, but there’s no way to do pinch air gestures with the new TouchWiz Nature UX experience. Seeing that there’s a new capacitive panel on board with the Galaxy S4, which brings for the Note’s air view functionality with the aid of hovering with our finger, we thought it would’ve been possible to see “pinch air gestures.” Despite its omission, which is probably due to a combination of hardware limitations, we’re hoping to see some form of it with future versions.

Not enough third party app support: As much as I love to show some magic hand waving tricks to random people interested in seeing the Galaxy S4, it would’ve been nice to see support for air gestures in other third party apps. Still, considering how quickly Sammy was able to expand its support of apps for its multi-window feature, we hope it’s only a matter of time before the same happens with air gestures.

We like to blink and look away at times, so smart pause can be bothersome at times: I have this involuntary condition where I like to blink normally, or even look away briefly – like any other normal human being. However, if you have the smart pause feature on, you’ll need to constantly have your eyes affixed on the screen so the video you’re watching doesn’t spaz out every few seconds. Instead, it would’ve been nice if there were some kind of leeway before it triggers – then again, at least we can deactivate it entirely.

You’ll need to know a lot of people using S4s to try its Group Play features: I really want to show off some of the Group Play features of the Galaxy S4, but there’s just one problem – I don’t know too many people in real life right now with the S4 in hand as well. Without question, multiplayer game play on the S4 seems like a wonderful thing, as well as its handful of photo sharing options, but there’s no way to make use of them unless I know other people who are using the phone too. Well, maybe in a month or so I can randomly game with someone in the subway to kill some time? Oh wait, we both need to download and play the same game to do that!

Smart Scroll is nice, but again, there’s no scrolling left/right: So far, people have been mostly impressed by the S4’s Smart Scroll feature – the one that relies on eye tracking to scroll in the web browser vertically. However, the surrounding lighting conditions can hamper its operation. Now, the thing that people don’t see when I show off the feature, is that I’m slightly tilting the phone forward/back to get it to function fully. If it can track my eyes up/down, then why is it that it can’t track it left/right? This, I ponder many nights in bed.

I want to get fit, but I need more than the phone & S Health: In its attempt to monitor our daily lives, Samsung introduced S Health with the Galaxy S4 – the one stop-shop for all your health tracking needs. As a fitness fanatic myself, I really appreciate that Sammy is tackling this new category head-on, but there’s just so much that the smartphone can do all by itself. Tracking how many steps I take is wonderful, but you’ll need to carry along a heart rate monitor in order to get an accurate calorie burn number. Well, at least they’re coming out with an assortment of accessories in the near future to give those who need precise counts.

Hi All.. I bought this mobile a month back in India (Chennai) at the cost of INR 38,000... Its a great model from Sony... The camera quality and the presentation of the photo looks great. I faced a issue in this mobile which is i can't able switch off the mobile and for that Sony also provide a updated too... Other than this case i haven't faced any issues... The battery of the mobile looks fine and good for me... I am more satisfied with mobile. Really good performance.

Quite big news today about Sony profits..

The Z is too big for me (so are others its getting silly) and dont like screen but if they were to chage this i might rebuy Sony..I am on other peoples sides about screen its not the best at all it is poor..Remember tv's are always inside the home a smartfone for me carrys out my computing and telephony needs OUTSIDE away from home or work so just because bravia is used on their tv's does not mean its good for mobile..

Imagine if many people dont buy this cause of screen and Sony change it? more sales.

I have a 1 month old Z, I fitted the roxio genuine bumper and screen protectors on it the day of purchase. Today, after I took the phone out of my front jeans pocket, a couple of small cracks have appeared coming from the edge of the glass that look like they were caused by an impact or a slight twsiting of the phone, but there was nothing else in my pocket or any mis-handling of the phone in any way! I'm dissapointed the screen damaged so easily and now the top half of the touchscreen is totally unresponsive. I upgraded from the Iphone due to very weak screens. Would this damage be covered by the Sony warranty? Anyone else have similar experiences?

And the screen with oversatured fake colors is no match to the Xperia Bravia engine 2 screen.

The Camera from the Z is even better, the desing is also better. Water proof and dust proof and it has no problems with overheating and lagging.

I my country people buy Xperia Z over the Crappy plastick SGS4.

i compared it with xperia z ,the screen and and camera of the xperia z are just jokes when compared to the s4.

every body just opens his mouth when i demonstrate air gesture and other samsung software features,

i will report any over heating if it happened in the next few days.

if u don't like samsung u can try htc one,for me it is the 2nd best phone in the market after the s4.

in my country sony did excellent sales before the release of the s4 and htc one,but now most people are choosing between htc and samsung (samsung has much more known name).

Galaxy S4 features/gimmicks are limited to samsung apps.

Is your Samsung Galaxy S4 OVERHEATING?
                                  source: XDADevelopersForum, AndroidForum

A number of reports are coming out from Samsung Galaxy S4 users who are complaining about how hot their new handset is, literally. One user took the temperature of his new Android flagship unit and found it was running at 50 degrees Celsius, which is a positively red hot 122 degrees Fahrenheit. At that temperature, the phone is hard to hold or put against the ear for phone calls.

The units seem to heat up during game play or while browsing the web and more than one person complained of heat coming from the camera. One former Samsung Galaxy S II owner noted the same problem from that model. When he upgraded to the Samsung GALAXY Note II, he ended up with a much faster processor and no overheating issues. Thinking that Sammy had solved the problem, he swapped out the phablet for the Galaxy S4 only to find it overheating in almost every application.

Another Samsung Galaxy S4 owner tracked the temperature on his phone from idle (27 degrees Celsius), to checking email and simple web browsing (35 degrees Celsius) to playing games (40 degrees Celsius). In most cases, the rise in temperature coincided with a quick drop in battery life. One idea mentioned was to put the phone inside a thin case, but that is more to protect your hands from getting burned and is not a practical solution to the problem of the overheating phone.

Other suggestions include disabling GPS and Bluetooth, or possibly dimming the screen. If this is a constant problem that gets unbearable, you can try returning the device for a new unit. While that might be the option of last resort, some Galaxy S4 users that exchanged their phone found the replacement to run just as hot as the old model.

Have any of our readers run into this problem with the Samsung Galaxy S4?
