AnonD-171425, 05 Apr 2014I'm the guy who made the other comment about the non-remova... moreIt deffy affects thickness, i have removed the back of my Xperia Z and it exposes not only the battery but also other components are left in the open, unlike on my BB Z10 with removable back cover and battery where there is an additional wall over the components and behind the battery. Im not in any doubt about it.
These days we are talking about differences in thickness of 0.2 mm as if they are big, and in fact they are noticeable. Sorry your post is too long, i read it some other time.

Well, I don't disagree with the points you make about non-removable batteries. Although I do disagree with other arguments such as thickness or capacity. As a matter of fact, if you look at an opened Z1 you can clearly see that it's just a regular battery pack behind the non-removable cover, so at least for that phone both claims are bogus. Even if some manufacturers might squeeze out remaining volume, the added battery capacity would be almost unnoticable compared to the total.
What I personally am bothered by though is another thing: that I couldn't exchange the battery myself if it starts to reach its end of life, as I like to keep my phones for a lnog time. I'm not the guy to carry spares, never have. But to be perfectly honest, I also never had a battery exchanged on any of my previous phones. I guess I just like to have the option. On the other hand, when I think about it, if the battery died after the warranty period, what's the difference? You're not voiding anything anymore by opening it anyway. You either pay for a new battery (which will get discontinued at one point too!) or paying to have it replaced by Sony. Same difference.
So I made the decision to request a new quote for the Z1 Compact after all. Most of all, I thought about how long I've been looking for a new phone now, and how long it would take me to find another one where it's just *one* thing that annoys me.
I still chuckle a bit at having been accused of being a Samsung fanboy, just for pointing out a flaw that most (all?) Samsung phones don't happen to have. It pushed my buttons a bit, because I don't like being called irrational. Fanboys annoy me. But the funny thing is that his ridiculous accusation made me realise that the way I was looking for phones these past months, I could really only call my pattern that of a Sony fanboy =P I literally filtered every site by manufacturer, and looked only at Sonys. So I guess I should thank him for showing me the stupidity in my brand-loyalty.
I still prefer Sony, but Sony is not my religion, and Samsung not my devil. But I guess some people would prefer to have people restricted to forums of "their" brand where everyone sings praises in unison and any criticism is prohibited. I think those people are in the wrong place. Most of us judge phones by features and downsides, not brand. I'm far from the only one to have admonished Sony's decision to build more fixed-battery phones, too. It's called objective evaluation and criticism. I'm not calling it out because I want to piss off people who like the phone, but because I would like Sony to make better decisions in the future. I guess the concept of constructive criticism is an alien one to fanboys, because they can't see past the fact that you said something negative about their gods. Throwing arbitrary accusations of conspiracy at people is the fanboy's natural, pathetic response.

So people i just came here to say something about the durability of the set. My z1 comapct fell from the top of the stairs step by step to down with that my hearts just fell out of my chest lol but when i took it there was not even a single scratch and i was quite shocked . That was something amazing ..
And about the set its pretty amazing the colors just wow trimilinious display with ips just wow and every other things is just imp most importantly the battery two days straight with a single charge. Well this is the best i have ever use in my life .. Waiting to get my hands on z2 or may be z2 compact :) cheers!

I bought this phone few days ago and I feel that wow it's really cool and camera are totally awesome display quality everything and main thing is that phone battery backup I used full day in my university with mobile data on net browsing when I came back home it's also have 46 percent charge

Actually the bigger problem of the plastic back is fingerprints/dust than scratches, if you understand what I mean. Plus the phone is quite thick for its phone size, probably to accommodate the battery and to dissipate heat (remember it has a Snapdragon 800). Even Moto G is easier to hold in hand!

Yes, even as an Android fan since 2010 I have to say the iPhone has unrivaled photo quality for its phone size...it's one thing iPhone can do better than Android phones for sure

You should read up on display technology and post back here when you already understand the simplest basics.

Hi Guys,
I had bought Z1 Compact on 31st March, in Mumbai @ Rs. 34500. Have been using it heavily from past 2 days.
Pros:
1. Looks great, feels like a flagship phone (a competitor to iPhone in looks)
2. Awesome display. (720p resolution,Triluminos display,X-Reality Engine and IPS LCS screen working great)
3. Beast in performance. Very fast. Good for multi tasking. Does not get heated on heavy use.
4. Headphone output is great (using headphone Creative EP630)
5. Battery capative is good but not the best. Will have to charge daily if used heavily and will last for 2 days on moderate use.
6. Good gaming experience and Graphics (Played Temple Run, Asphalt and Subway Surfer)
7. Camera works great for shooting in daylight.
Cons:
1. Both Front Glass and Rear Plastic sides are Finger print and Dust magnet. (really annoying)
2. Front Glass has a plastic coating which is not scratch resistance hence had to use a scratch guard.
3. Though the display is 4.3" diagonally, Phone length is 5". Not that compact. Sony could have saved a lot of space.
4. Speaker is mediocre (Low output and flat). Headset available within the box is not good for Music lovers.
5. Camera is terrible for low light shooting. I have also experienced Flash bleed issue.
6. Have to press Power,Volume and Camera buttons hard. (Will have to adjust)
7. lastly, many of the pre installed application are of no\little use. Whats worse is that we cannot un install\hide them.
Overall its a good phone, but has many areas to improve. My Rating : 7.5/10

looks great with shutter release,we need that for capturing a photo or video.. look like my old phone sony ercson K800, and fyi i just bought xperia z in earlier month huhuhu..

Great mini and very fast. Battery lasts 5 days with normal use! That awesome for a mobile with 2.2 quad cpu. Now, unlikely the other users, i believe that the Camera isn't so good, actually it appears to have very poor quality side by side with my previous iphone 4s,especially at day pictures. I didn't even try to compare it with 5s....! Screen also is not the best on the market. It is also a drawback to me that me battery is not removable. Other than these, the phone is perfect and speedy, so i recommend it for sure.

I cancelled getting the z1c because of android, bought a BlackBerry Z10 and no regrets, maybe i look at Z2C if BlackBerry fails to come up with a high specced compact phone but i dont really wanna go back to android, its good but BB10 is better, and android apps work very well on BB10, its like having android without any of the disadvantages.

Well still wa1ting for the Xperia Z2 compact. I compared the XZ1C size with the xperia S (almost the same) and it really feels big. In my humble opinion people asking for 4,5 or more inches should buy the bigger versions. There are really people (a lot)looking for a compact version, nevertheless I think sony is on the right way. Other companies like Samsung and LG simply cannot offer such specs at this size and are trying to fool customers with their high end phablets. Please don't get me wrong, there is a huge market for the galaxy S5 and co, but please not at such prices. There is nothing special at offering such advance hardware on huge phones. Now back to Sony, I think they could accommodate even a 4,5" inch display in a smaller phone. Well on the Z1C the bezel is simply too big. The rear plastic finish is a very bad solution, if sony could not equal the Z1 material then it should have made the plastic mate. And about the camera, only a few people really complain about it. I think more owners should/will see in time that 20 MP are not such a big thing since sony´s camera software (I do not have another explanation) is doing a regular job. A comparison with the iPhone camera quality is well chosen. To me, the iPhone 5S produces cleaner pics. Well as I said before still waiting for the Z2C. Greetings.
