Saw a Swedish battery standby test of several phones, this is what they wrote about Z1C, just simplified translation,
"fully charged, we turned on all battery saving functions available, threw it in a backsack for a week, through a trip abroad and strolls in areas with low signal, only checked phone once a day that it was still alive, after a week it had 30% battery remaining. Two other phones, GNote3 and ip5s died after around 2 days. in other words 'ruggedly' impressive"

In their regular battery test (not sure but i think its video playback at full brightness and some background processes to stress network and chipset a bit more) it scored 6hrs 51mins, thats like 2 hours more than Z1. Excellent battery, sooo looking forward to get this.

Gustaurus, 01 Feb 2014Screen is TFT? Spec at gsmarenaYes, it is a TFT (all displays are, even amoled), with and IPS panel. They will not change it to TFT IPS unless Sony will specify it in the official whitepaper. Sony representatives confirming it being IPS is not enough.

Sohel, 01 Feb 2014Hope this phone doesn't have such bug and no over-heating p... moreThe socalled overheating problems are not a problem at all, if you want performance there will be heat. If you want fast downloads there will be heat. If you cant accept that then buy a phone with dualcore mediatek A7 and use only GPRS connection, and there will not be much heat at all.

Its amazing how people expect to have download speeds of many megabits per second and want the phone to render the webpages perfectly smooth without generating some heat? Its against the laws of physics, it does not make any sense. The only way to generate less heat is to lower the performance. The glue band used in Xperia Z back panel has been modified in later models to handle the high temperatures, the need for performance throttling is not poresent in Z1 and Z1 Compact.

Im not buying a phone with snapdragon 800 only to have the performance throttled to S400 level just because some clueless people think they can violate the laws of physics. Until we get 16 nanometer Intel chipsets we have to accept this level of heat for this level of performance.

Was totally fed up from 5"-6" screens in high end phones. Totally lost hope on Sony for that and finally! A premium smartphone with 4.3" display arrived. THANK YOU SONY for making a stand for CLASSY smartphone release.

Bingo - been waiting and at last!
Why do other makers think smaller screens = licence to throw at us a less capable phone with insufficient RAM and that is frustrating.
I think this phone hits the sweet spot and will make the owner feel smart, cool and dignified. Performance, quality, very good camera, elegant, easy to hold and fit in the pocket nicely.
I'll use a tablet for fancy graphical stuff - getting cheap enough now.
                                Well done Sony.

yorkhoh, 29 Jan 2014Looks great in comparison to current offerings. But, compa... moreDisplays should not be too small either. I had two 3.7 inch phones for a total of almost 2 years, both with qwerty slideout keyboard, yeah they were great for chat and so on and browsing was ok but not great.

I also have an Xperia U, 3.5 inch, quite similar display to the phone i really loved, the Nokia N900, and i used to do lots of web browsing on the N900 and i loved it but this was in 2010, going back now and use a 3.5 inch phone for webbrowsing wasnt quite as i remembered it, not that great, no.

Another example of people avoiding serious web browsing on small phones is iPhone, it has been established that iPhone users use tablets more than Android users, for example from statistics over which devices people use for online shopping. People with a big android has no use for a tablet, its actually as simple as that, and tablet sales losing momentum is another proof of this. iPhone users however have no choice with their tiny displays, they really need that iPad in addition.

I think 4.3 inch is a good tradeoff for small size vs user experience and can do the job as my only device, which is what i want as i dislike tablets, utterly useless fashion devices.

Xperia SX was an amazing phone, agreed, but i doubt i would have bought one if it had gone international.

AnonD-169999, 30 Jan 2014Sorry, I couldn't replay on your technical terms. Because,... moreYou dont have to believe me but i could actually spot some small imperfections in small fonts on my 440 PPI Xperia Z, and could confirm that the imperfections were actually there by taking screenshots and zoom in. If 440 PPI isnt perfect then even higher PPI will make a noticeable difference.

In addition, i heard about some tests done in Japan, they found that even if they could not see individual pixles pictures looked more alive when the resolution increased. So yes, we need higher resolutions. Forget about retina, what matters is the enormous resolving power of our FOVEA, without it we couldnt even read this text, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fovea
