pros: size, water proof, pretty cool design, good perfomance of display, fast.
cons: sometimes system is not responding, turn off with no reason, after you can not turn it on for a while, easy to scratch, earpods is not good. sensor is average.

This phone does have impressive specifications but Im wondering if the camera really produces nice output. I have always been a fan of camera phone released by Sony before they start producing smartphones, and got impressed by iPhone too esp in low light photography. Samsung S3 was a little bit a disappointment.
So I would like to ask if the camera in this device really stood up to its specifications or does it produce pictures with quality of just like any other smartphone.

Screen cracked on itself, hairline crack that makes the phone not usable, touch not working, screen and repair VERY expensive. it didnt even drop. never buying Sony again.

There are 3 phones infront of my eyes.. Sony z1 compact ,htc one mini2, htc e8. Which one i choose? Or will i choose other brand?

Z1 Compact is a very perfect phone with woderful camera and proccessor and games are great on it , but i have little problem the camera,s button is buged cant get the camera app or shot a pic just focusing without capturing photoes unless that its one of the best phone in th world

Great phone. I have it for a month now.
Sadly this is the only option for high end spec under a medium screen.
The rom is very clean, updates comes very quickly.
No lags, no problems. It doesn't get hot, the battery is amazing!
the screen looks very good, even in sunlight.
I didn't tried it underwater and I didn't had problem with my photos/albums yet...

If I was to choose between these three options, I'd choose z1c,because it has better performance,More ergonomic,Battery efficiency and etc.

Or maybe you can go for LG G3 if you want a good display (for movies and games too)
As other members here mentioned, there's no perfect phone. every phone has bugs on it.
Still, the decision is up to you.

AnonD-291454, 06 Aug 2014I bought Z1 compact in the month of March which i could har... moreI'm sorry to hear about your bad experience on this phone. Sadly but true, 20.7 MP is "gimmick" for me.. 8MP still gets better pictures to be honest.
Guys in order to solve your problems, I read somewhere at the sony forums, here's a TEMPORARY solution.. just go to APP MANAGER>ALBUM>CLEAR CACHE AND CLEAR DATA then RESTART your phone. That should remove those annoying smudged albums. I was disappointed that Sony can't even fix that album bug. Hoping for SW update..

I have this phone fo nearly 4 months, every thing is ok. Its a nice phone with great size and character but after updating it to kitkat the camera has been defective. It hangs every time and allerts camera not available or cant save the picture after taking it. I have to restart the phone to be able to take some photos but after a few hours or a day the problem is here again and I have to restart the phone again. I did reset my phone to the factory settings but the problem still exists. There is no answer from sony yet about this shaming defect while many experia z1 compacts have this malfunction. I dont know what to do. Please help me if you know something about it. Does any body here have this problem?

Bought this phone and tried it in water and now it will do nothing but restart the whole time. Will probably lose all my photos of that holiday. DONT try this phone in water unless everything is backed up. Hope sony wont give me the bad service most ppl seem to have got.

what would b better option xperia-Z1 or Z1-Compact?
can it b possible to upgrade xperiaZ1 to kitkat version?
*I want big screen with better battery backup.
*support latest big size games.
*better rear camera.
*Most Important, a very much faster internet access.
