İ have this phone for a week and have unlocked the bootloader..
Root is easy.
Now i have flash custom rom 5.1.1 whith better battery life and runs very smoothly.
2016.7.23 update V8.5.0, stable power saving, suitable for long-term use
Maybe try 6.0 later.

Great phone, obviously pretty dated by now. Had mine 2 years and battery finally started to go, have had it replaced and working fine again now - Still perfectly capable of running latest app's etc.

I ne... moreI wouldn't buy Z1 Compact when the Z3 Compact is better (actually Z3 series was the best smartphones sony ever made) with beast battery life and newer software and better design. Also Z5 Compact is a pretty good small flagship but pricier than $/€ 300. iPhone 5s is also very good and should be on par with the Z3 Compact.

Do you think it's possible to find a new one nowadays? I need to replace my Moto G and it's hard to find a new compact companion for less then 300€.

They gave me a new unit instead of repairing the broken one. They didn't even warn me about thing like backup the phone or so. yea... all data gone. GJ Sony Centre.
About x compact and z5 in terms of which soc runs cooler, micro usb vs usb-C, have IP rating vs non and build durability(z1c is very tough with its solid aluminium frame and thick plastic bezel lol)
From youtube, i see a guy dunk x compact in coke and still survive but not sure if its truth to have some sort of hidden IP rating something like lumia phone.

If you need a new phone, I guess Z5 is pretty similar with Z1c, X Compact is great, but I do missed the IP rating :(

Hi, I need some advise whether to replace dead screen digitizer, twice. Happens a year ago and got replaced with new z1c(rip built-in data from old because new unit...) Now it happens again exactly one year after got it replace. Dammit. Is it really worth repairing unskilled DIY style, pricey repair by pro or use other sony phone. I don't want to sent it to trusted repair center or else all data will be gone again :|
I keep thinking of replacing to upcoming X compact. What do you ya all think? idc about the overprice tag, need replacement asap(suffering bad using acro s as replacement atm:( )

I using Sony z1 compact under docomo brand. I just want to know, if this set is original made in Japan? Now I am in Malaysia, is Sony transmit os update like from KitKat to Lollipop for All Sony products eventhou under docomo brand?

Have dropped it down strairs, on marmor, asphalt, stones, from the bike while in high speed, and tons of other times due to clumsy hands. This phone is unbreakable!

Hi ali you only get 10GB because the other 6GB is taken up by the OS and apps etc.
