İ have buy this phone new and its very fast.
İ have unlocked the bootloader, then root it and install twrp dual recovery.
Now its better and better. Battery can easy with 3 days in stamina mode.
On antutu benchmark was the most points 58206 and second test was 57985.

I have to wait to see how long the cheap batteries will last (on two of the phones where I replaced the batteries it has been a year since I replaced them). As far as I am concerned, there is no such thing as counterfeit batteries, but that's just one poor guy's humble opinion. I've been replacing batteries on laptop with aftermarket batteries for the past ~20 years. Only one problem so far (though I got my money back), but I probably just got lucky. Though I agree with you that the best way to avoid any problems is to buy apple and have them replace components / parts under warranty with "genuine" parts.

After 1.5-2 years the battery dies, then you need to find a replacement. Then good luck picking one online that is cheap and not a fake.
And the glued back cover is a hassle. Don't tell me how pro you are with replacing it, you'll need the gluey thing, you'll need to order it, wait for it, do it each time you need to open it up. Which might happen more often than you think if they scam you with fake batteries.
I'll never buy such a phone again, they should just put a cover there that can be opened by hand or by a screwdriver.
This is just a marketing agenda to make you spend money to fix stuff that starts to get problems right after the warranty expires.

The differences (in batches (of new ones) I got my dirty hands on): there are two different displays (I don't recall which one is made by whom): one seems to have better dynamic range of colors, but is significantly less bright in the sunlight - the other one is really good in sunlight, but has colors not as deep as the other one. The ones with more dynamic displays do NOT have internal NFC sticker antenna (why? I have no idea, but it was so on all three Z1 compacts I got from mainland China). I installed it (you can see that I was tinkering with these babies, it's just a hobby). No noticeable difference for NFC. Interestingly, these phones (more dynamic displays and no NFC sticker antenna) also have significantly poorer cell tower reception (compared side-by-side). If all Z1c's were as good as the ones I got almost 3 years ago, I would still go for it (with a caveat below), but not for the ones that are different. Now for the bad news: there is no official upgrade for these phones to Android 6.* This is a bummer. Really. Especially in the light of internal memory being 16GB: these days one wants at least 32GB. I am waiting for a compact phone (as Z1c) with 64GB now.

The battery won't last 2 years, then you'll have to spend 15% of the purchase price to get it replaced. The back cover is glued and is not removable, which is very inconvenient considering the necessary battery replacement.

Guys,
Do you think this phone is still a valuable buy ? I need a compact smartphone for the GF but cant afford the X Compact version which is about 600-700$ here. I can get a Z1 compact with a replaced battery for about 100$ here, but not sure if I should get it...? The problem is that there is so little choice of compact smartphones with decent specs today... Iphone is out of the question due to pricing as well

After installed the sony software. Use the software to repair your phone. If is the battery problem then u need to replace the battery around 150 bucks first.

Hi,my Docomo Z1C suddently not working after i wake up from sleep for 1 night.I so sad.I still love my Z1C.Than the next day,i bring my Z1C to sony customer care ,and the officer said nothing can do with my Z1C,cause my set is not local set,it is Japan set but made by China,so all the software and hardware are diffrent from local set.The very bad experiance.Before brakedown,my Z1C is in good condition,is just suddently.So for sony user or who read my story,i want to know how many years the best period we can use handphone,because my Z1C already over 2 years.Other thing,if suddently happened,it is cause by virus or operation system up garde automaticaly?Tq for any opinion.

Had no problems the first few months of ownership.camera was the first disappointment. Poor quality for 20 mega pixels. Dust accumulated and then on crappy pics. Then wifi reception deteriorated suddenly after a year and the screen cracked. Not worth the money.

Hey, I really want a certain phone case but I'll have to order it online, it has to be a CERTAIN one bUt I can't get a Sony xperia z1 case bc it's not there. I can't find the answer online but doesn't anyone know of a phone that is the same size so I can try to get that one instead and still have it fit? Thankyou X

I owned this phone for more than 2 yrs now. It is exceptionally beautiful. After around 15 month of usage I started having problem with the battery. It switched off whenever battery reached 30% but i replaced the battery and everything was working fine.
It slipped so many times from my hand (from like 5'') nothing happened.. i must say very solid phone. Unfortunately, recently screen cracked and touch stopped working.
And about camera, i didn't like the quality at all. Outdoors, the quality was very good and all. but in low light it was blehhh... I never ever took photos in low light. never.
But all in all I love this phone. :)

Awful phone. Camera is horrible, battery life dreadful, randomly seizes up, playlist disappear randomly from native Music app. Would never ever buy another Sony phone after this one.
