Better device from sony after Xperia Z1 sony did away with some of the deficiencies in Xperia Z1 like 16GB interal to 32 GB in Z1s and from 2300mAh battery to 3000 mAh battery but a scaling down of LTE spectrum to only 2100MHz from upto 2600 MHz. is sure disastrous unless there is a very significant price reduction do do that !! Voice and Video calling facility in 2600 MHz spectrum using data is undertrial and if successful it is going to be the future so this is definitely a thumbs down for Xperia Z1s, if the same had been done for the smaller cheaper Z1 compact it was acceptable but not for Z1s but surprisingly Z1 compact has LTE in 2600 MHz spectrum !! So thumbs down !!

AnonD-222035, 07 Jan 2014Galaxy Note 3 is much better than it as per the price and s... moreI have used both the Z1 (not the Z1S, though I'm thinking about getting one) and the Note 3. They are both fantastic phones but they are also very different phones.
The Note 3 is chock full of features, has a bigger screen, and better battery life. It also has TouchWiz, which may be a negative for some (personally, I like TouchWiz), seems to be much less stable than both the Note 2 and the Z1, and has a bigger form factor. It's also got the S-pen, which works very well. Plus it has an IR blaster for controlling televisions, cable boxes, projectors, etc. (I've found this to be very handy). For creative people, those who want the most features possible, and those who are really into multimedia, this would be one of the best phones you could get.
The Z1 (and likely the Z1S since they're very similar) is very close to stock Android and does not have nearly as many features as the Note 3. That said, it seems to be much, much more reliable and takes vastly superior low light videos. It is waterproof and has much higher build quality than the Note 3 (not that the Note 3 has poor build quality in my opinion, I found it to be quite good). This phone seems to be more geared toward active/outdoorsy people or people who are frequently put in situations where they have to deal with harsh weather or water regularly. It probably doesn't matter to most, but the one key problem I had with the Z1 is that the LED was not anywhere near as bright as the Note 3.
I would encourage people to try both of them out. In my opinion they are both excellent phones.

RazzleTazz, 07 Jan 2014The size and battery capacity mostly. Z1s is a smaller Z1.I think you might be thinking of the Z1 compact. There was a lot of confusion before Sony's press conference. Most tech sites were reporting the Z1S was a compact version, when it was actually the T-Mobile variant of the Z1 (same dimensions, some nicer stuff like better waterproofing, more internal storage, and some extra software features).

T-Mobile's Z1S has:
- 32 gb internal storage (as opposed to 16 gb)
- IP58 rating (as opposed to the IP57): Meaning it has better water resistance.
- Some extra software features in the camera (background blur for photos, that simulates the bokeh effect you can get from using an SLR with a short depth of field).
