SWEET water proof!!, 06 Jan 2015This phone IS water Proof! BUT ONLY PURE SWEET water PROOF!... morepeople just do NOT read stuff!

http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/xperiaz3compact/dm/water-and-dust-resistance/

chlorinated waterpool will damage with time the phone rubbers!
after getting out of a pool anyone should rinse the phone with SWEET tap water and then dry it!

im not even sure this phone can be submerged under non fresh water.

only rated IPX8 phones can be submerged under water with chemicals (non fresh water)!

M.J, 04 Jan 2015This phone is not water proof as Sony claims it to be. on 2... moreThis phone IS water Proof! BUT ONLY PURE SWEET water PROOF! ( tap WATER )

the chemicals used in pool water to make it clean will DEGRADE the cap rubbers with time! POOL water is not 100% sweet!

Sony has explained this in their web site!

Please people READ the full specs and INSTRUCTIONS of this phone!
and PLEASE DO DRY IT after it gets wet!

From MY point of view this phone IS AWESOME just in case water falls on it BY ACCIDENT! it wont die!
EVEN if it falls momentarily in water by accident.. it will still NOT die!

please read FULL specs for this phone Specially the water PROOF FULL explanations and instructions!

Pros: Love the battery life. Great camera and app. Dedicated shutter button is ace too. The styling is nice.

Cons: Screen's good in the day, but can't compete with AMOLED, especially at night -- it's too bright and lacking in contrast. The Sony software needs work. It's all in the detail: Samsung have lots of small features in their software that make their phones easy to live with: Blocking mode features, Smart alarms, launcher that swipes between screens in a loop, etc.

Bought Z3 6 weeks ago, upgraded from iphone 5 as wanted something different. Love the z3 great battery life and super camera, however I left it sitting on my bed, lifted it 5 mins later to send a text and the screen was black... Though at first battery had run out, but the lights and noises were still working.. I even got my mum to ring me and it rang, but no image on screen. Took it staight to 02 shop who sent if off for repair, got word today that i have to pay £85.99 for new front cover and madatory parts as it it not covered by warrant. My phone was never dropped or mistreated. Im not paying this and i am waiting on a call back from the repair team as customer services say the notes on the repair are sketchy....will update this again when i know what exactly is wrong with the phone

The days when 4.6" qualifies as "Compact"… that's ridiculous. I wonder when the next (high-end) phone will come along that I can even consider switching to from my Z1C, which already borders on too large with its 4.3". Get a grip, phone manufacturers. I want a smartphone, not a television.

I've always had Samsung phones, but after comparing the specifications on GSM (As always) between the S5 and Z3 mini's, I dubiously made the switch to Sony!
After 3 weeks I feel ready to review.
In a nutshell, Sony has better Hardware, Samsung has better Software. It's a trade off, and i'm still not convinced I made the right choice.
I need my smartphone for: Taking pictures, Watching videos, Surfing net, texting and phone calls.
                        Hardware:
Even though the camera spec is higher with Sony, In auto mode, it's preset to 8mp. Compared with 20mp in manual, i find i get better pictures in auto mode. But in auto, i can't change to 4:3 from 16:9. I prefer 4:3 as i like my pictures developed in 6x4.
I can take videos in 4k but not Photos. 4k video is excellent, but watch out for file size! Of course 4k take more memory. Dedicated camera button is a nice touch.
Gladly, Sony have kept their trademark Flash light feature, which uses the camera flash as a torch. (Just like on my old Sony ericsson phone from years ago).
I use MX player to watch videos. It's the best video player app in my opinion, though it does use up battery quickly, I find I still get around 2 days use between charges.
Internet is fast, call connection is fast, opens app's fast.
Sound quality is not as good as i'd hoped. Stereo works well, but turn up the volume, and you'll get distortion. Didn't have this problem with Samsung. (Not an issue with headphones plugged in of course).
                        Software:
Samsung is more intuitive and much more personable. Sony's text messenger service looks very uniform and boring. You cannot change the phones font styling, I had to select which language to load into the dictionary before I could start using text, Sony is full of software i don't need or want, (Calculator, Calender, Alarm are all boring and not intuitive, they feel awkward to use. Their is no organizer, I find i'm having to look for app's to download, to run basic services, that come as standard on the Samsung, and that 'Just work'). Using the phone to make calls and view contacts feels awkward (Though, that could be because i'm used to Samsung).
Samsung feels better in the hand. And one last point, when I want to charge my Sony or transfer files onto it. I got to take the S-Line gel case off every time, so i can open the waterproof flap, to connect the cable. It's annoying! (Phone is smooth like glass and slippery, I need a gel case otherwise i'll be dropping it all the time).
Like I said earlier. In a nutshell, Sony has better Hardware, Samsung has better Software. It's a trade off, and i'm still not sure which phone I prefer.
                        Hope this helps :)

why the hell you always complain about cracking glass, do you guys know how to use a smartphone? i've had lower end phones, smartphones, any gadget with glass but NONE OF THEM CRACKED BY ITS OWN.. do you sit on your phone?seriously, GLASS DON'T CRACK on ITS OWN UNLESS you DO SOMETHING on IT. Why most people are hard to understand ? have you guys have common sense?

Dropped the phone twice when in the car and again no harm to the glass. No screen protector or bumper here.

Hi, I've using Z3C for about 2 months, My units is so-so, yes it is waterproof, but it has pink spot and the magnetic charging port are pulled off in just 1 month of use, so i take it to service center to reglue, YES reglue only. They said that my phone may not waterproof anymore.

So be careful you guys with your magnetic charger, better stick with usb one, if your flap is loose, you could replace it in service center for just IDR 30.000 (3 $) rather than your port pulled off.

Anyway Z3C has the best battery life, yeah it is 2 days battery if you use wi-fi and in sub tropical/ arctic country. mostly sony device drain battery faster in hot climate. Mine usually last foar a 24 hours.

i`ve been using this phone for 3 months, got no problem at all, super fast, superb battery life and great camera.
dropped the phone twice, no sign of scratches and cracks.
for me, this is the best smartphone within its own "mini" category.
