Sony should leverage on their expertise in photography. They have the best camera module but the worst software. Also, the screen must be really shatter proof in real life not just on paper.

I previously owned Z1C. On paper very similar phones, but in real life Z3C has remarkably different touch. Much more comfortable in hand, little useful tweaks (like slo-mo video, smart screen rotation etc), battery lasts (in normal use) 3 days, better camera button. Both panels are scracthproof, 1 month used and no single scracth on panels.
Only problem is camera software (same issue with Z1C), crashes too often :P
Best phone I ever had!

AnonD-111968, 30 Oct 2014Sony should also make there phones shock resistant-especial... morePut on the screen protector in the box before you use it (and if you don't like the one in the box buy one you do like). Sony phones used to have a shatterproof-film pre-applied, but the dumb hipsters complained about that and so they removed it.

Sony should also make there phones shock resistant-especially the screen. These screen-cracking feedbacks discouraged me to buy this beautiful Z3C. LG G4 is rumoured to utilize a sapphire display-wow.

darkraver, 27 Oct 2014Actually if Im not mistaken, it has metal body and frame to... moreIf that were the case, they wouldn't made the Z3 with metal frame. Z3 Compact's frame is pure plastic, which seems arguably cheap compared to Z3, a problem non-existent between Z2 and Z1 Compact.

My Xperia Z3 Compact (white) has arrived. The back is out of glass and although it's beautiful I can confirm that it feels slippery in the hand and on a polished surface. So I'm extremely careful till I get the case. Oh Sony, I'd preferred the polycarbonate back cover.
Although the size fits perfect in the hand and pocket, I'd still prefer bigger screen size of my Nexus 5.
There are a lot of apps pre-installed on this phone and I find it overwhelming. So I disabled some of them already. Sorry Sony.
With all these discomforts I'll keep Xperia Z3C as backup phone. Having used Galaxy Note 2 before and now I'm using Nexus 5, I'd say, the dream phone for me would be a Nexus 5 with bigger battery capacity.

Hi! If you are looking for a resistant phone DON'T BUY THE XPERIA Z3!
Basically it fell out of my POCKET and has got a massive crack at the back!
- Although I bought it from a Sony Centre that doesn't make ANY difference as
they did not help me at all.
- Contacted Customer Service and they said that the phone doesn't offer
anymore than "regular" (what is that? sea level pressure?) resistance against
shocks. Sony obviously knows these numbers but must be ashamed to make them
public
- To have it assessed it needs to be sent via mail (YES, find another nano-
sim phone for you) AND, should the issue not be covered by warranty AND you
do not wish them to fix it, guess what? You have to PAY $38 for the
assessment.
In my opinion, a $649 device PORTABLE device should be able to deal with
normal use accidents. Your phone is going in-and-out of your pocket
throughout your whole day and it should be designed to be resistant to such a
small fall, after all, it is a very expensive device.
Sony Mobile AU, really disappointed here. You made me wait and pay $100 more
than the imported version with Noise-Cancelling headphones, gave me the most
crappy earphones I've ever had, for this? My old and good Samsung Australia
Galaxy S3, 3 years of fun with no problems at all, how I miss you.

And z1c takes better superior auto. Z3c superior auto are oversaturated. I think they purposely dont want to make an excellent camera software for their mobile phones because it will affect their digicam business. That's just sad.

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2014I am currently using a xperia SP. They have the same screen... moreThe shorter the better, every mm counts, if you dont care about length just get the Z3 instead. My previous phone was 138mm long and that was the main problem about it, my current phone is 130mm and it makes a big difference, so much better even if its thicker but its still too long. Alpha and iPhone 6 have stupid length, definite dealbreaker.
Anyway, Sony has informed their store employees here that phones cannot be carried in pockets, any damage that occurs from that voids warranty, doesnt sound like someone i would buy more phones from.

tarun, 28 Oct 2014hi guys i am new here so could someone tell me how is the p... moreFirst, I'm not a Z3 Compact owner.
Compared to Nexus 5 (I do not own it, but have tested/tryed one), Z3 Compact is in a different league.
Major difference is the size. Z3 Compact feels like a chubby dwarf in comparison. This makes it more easy to handhold and carry, but less nice to look at. It feels more sturdy as well.
Regarding the screen, I would say that Nexus 5 has the advantage here. The water and dust protection on the Z3C while provide a durability advantage also make the screen less bright and harder to read under direct light.
Regarding CPU/GPU, the Z3C does circles around the Nexus 5 (Nexus 5 is not that slow though)
Regarding camera, again Z3C does fare better. (One could expect more though)
Ragarding battery... If you use your phone to check email and news the Nexus will last a day and half at best, the Z3C might last 3 days or more.
Regarding software, Nexus 5 has the advantage here. While not bloated like in past Sony phones, Z3C doesn't benefit from early updates not latest features. But it does have some built in apps that make sense.
In the end, the 'Compact' does mean that you're getting a small phone without compromising the performance.
